[Theme] 928Droid Black Glass X for Droid X !!!

I'm a noob at this so don't flame me to hard. I've installed metamorph installed on my droid x but having a problem installing the theme. I'm getting the following error the theme you selected is invalid because the theme control file could be missing. I have android 2.1. Does this only work for 2.2?

The Current Theme files are NOT MetaMorph Themes, they are Update.zip themes and ONLY work on Droid X with 2.1.

If the file you have say Update ZIP and not "MM" in the file name it is not a MetaMorph file .

I got it installed and loving it it!! Thank you!

Getting "r3" done was a big hurdle on the way to the 2.2 release. Now that I have everything the way I want it (for now) transferring everything over to 2.2 will happen quickly.

I would guess by tomorrow night I will have something ready for the Testers...could be tonight, but no promises.

aparently i am an idiot. ive read through this entire post and followed all steps that i have seen ( could have easily missed something) and when i try and open the theme in metamorph i get a pop up that says the control file is missing or incorrectly written. can someone please help me out with this.

    [*]You Install my Droid X Theme Update.zips with Clockwork Recovery (via Droid X BootStrapperapp) or ROM Manager AFTER you copy it to the root (main) directory of your Phone's SDcard...it is best to rename it to update.zip once there for easiest install.
    [*]Please do a search in this Forum if you are unfamiliar with Update.zip theming. Basically rename the files to update.zip (optional), put them on the root of your SDcard, boot into ClockWorkMod Recovery and apply the Update.zip following the screen prompts.
  • Don't FORGET to do a full Nandroid backup before applying these Themes!! You have been warned, and I take no responsibilty for any negative impact to your Droid!!
• IF you follow these simple guidelines and learn the basics of Update.zip Theming, you can then ENJOY the New 928Droid Black Glass X "Droidness" ..without any drama (or Boot Loops !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you Rebooting into recovery using Droid X BootStrapper app or Rom Manager?

It sounds like you don't have the Recovery installed, try it again using DX BootStrapper and made sure it is given Root Access (and you say OK if prompted). and then says it is installed.

Then tap the Reboot Into Recovery button in DX Boot Strapper.

Also make sure you have the latest version of DX Bootsrapper, if I recall apk file size should be around 1.82mb for the latest version and 1.5mb??? for the earlier version.

Ok i think i got it. I had to fix permissions and then rebooted into recovery and choose the .zip file i wanted the appearance def. Changed. Some of the things seem to have stayed the same but ill play around with it some more. Thanks alot.

Opps... I have a sneaking suspicion that it is there, but renamed to org.adw.launcher.apk1 I have been using the Stock Launcher exclusively while theming all the Blur Widgets and forgot to rename it back. Actually to be honest I have really gotten to like the stock Launcher, especially with my new Theme on it. It is much more stable, doesn't loose Widgets everytime I reboot or change something in the system files and seems overall smoother and more reliable. You should give it a try for a day or so and you may feel the same.

Regardless, go into system/app and look for org.adw.launcher and rename it back to just .apk (not sure if I did it .apk1 or ,apk2).

I think I am going to make a seperate Patch/Update.zip just for ADW , this would also make it easier for the frequent updates they do lately. Then I can just pop up a small Update Zip for it when it changes without messing with the main Theme file.

If you are not comfortable renaming that file, just hang on about 15 mins and I will have a Patch Zip uploaded that will fix it.

EDIT: Gonna take a few extra minutes and Theme the very latest version, 1.1.4 and upload it instead.
