Those with the official ota need some feedback

Got the update at 06:00 this morning in Nashville.
After using it normally all day, I must say I see absolutely no difference in performance or usage. That includes the Gps and battery.
But I didn't really have any complaints based on my normal usage.
I am in an office or car all week and when using heavy 4g I have power. Same when using it as a hotspot.
When out and about on weekends I turn it on 3g and it easily lasts all day.
Love the phone. Best I've ever had by far.
FYI : not rooted, medium 4g signal at home and office, typically great signal everywhere else around town.

Have been on the leaked jcase ota, and have had no random reboots, hugely improved battery and gps. I'm not rooted.

I downloaded the update this morning. Prior to the reboot, I have had random reboots once or twice since I got the phone back in the middle of March. After the update, had no random reboots....UNTIL this evening. I have had three random reboots over the course of 3 hours. The first one was when I got home from work and disconnected my phone from the bluetooth in my car stereo. The second happened when I pressed the power button to turn the screen back on. The third happened when I finished reading an email and exited out of the email app back to the home screen.

I got the update yesterday afternoon and didnt really notice anything for a few hours but later that night and today my bolt started doing unusual things it was acting slow, syncing alot and had worse 3g than before so I just did a factory reset and it seems to have made it snappy again and its not syncing alot. I always have good 3g at my house so ill have to wait to tommorow to see if thats better but so far so good .

I didn't want to jinx myself, so I didn't post, but it's been 24 hours, no re-boots. On the other hand, I haven't notice any improvement on battery life as of yet, but I was plugged into my computer at work after 4.5 hours and 72% medium use. It's been over another 6 hours of medium use and I'm at 60%. Mostly 2 bars of 4G at work, wifi at home (3.5 hours). EMs, FaceBook, Internet, no streaming, no texting today, some app stuff, photo editing, maybe 10 minutes on the phone. No root.
I'm going to pull my battery tonight and see what tomorrow's like.

Updated yesterday....i have had no random reboots while using...however..i turned the phone off yesterday for a bit...when I turned it back on...it went through 4 reboots before it came back up.

As far as I am concerned the only reason they got this update out now was to have the popup launch when you use the hotspot feature telling you that you are going to have to pay in a few days. I dont use all of the facebook twitter stuff so I cant comment on whether that works better or not. I see no discernible difference with the phone in any other regard.

You don't need background data on to use your phone. Infact I forget that it is off until I try to go into the market and it reminds me to turn it back in. I use my device just fine, I don't see why I need data to be on while the phone is in my pocket.

Will instant messaging apps like AOl IM, GTalk, Yahoo Messenger, Astra (Trillian), Microsoft Instant Messenger (whatever they call it now), etc. continue to work when the screen goes off, if background data is turned off?

Is anyone going to install a system log monitor like aLogcat and report here what happened in the System Logs right before these "random" reboots occur? I will, when I get my OTA update.
It sounds like a 3rd party app(s) that is not compatible with Gingerbread.

That would be cool, though this isn't the GB update, just a smaller one to supposedly help with 4G, gps, sound, etc.

Just to clarify, your link is to Gingerbread, and the quoted message and thread concerns the ThunderBolt OTA update(2.2.1). Us non-rooted users will have to wait indefinitely for GB to officially become available. The description for the OTA update can be found on the Verizon site, but has been posted on the forums as well-just minor tweaks compared to GB!

My bad.
Thanks for the correction.

For those with random REBOOT issues on Thunderbolt after the OTA latest update: Remove/delete the app that switches between 4G & 3G, & manually reboot. This should address the issue.

I have never had that installed and thus won't solve my problems with reboot since the update. Can anyone point me to how to roll back the software to previous. At this point I would much rather roll back and root than keep this software.
