Thunderbolt Rooting problem

FINALLY!!!!!!dancedroid!!!!

Justin got me through it. Was stuck at s-on. Forgot to reboot after #4.

You people are awesome. Thanks to ROB and DROID for ALL of their help.
Couldn't have done it without you guys.
I owe you one....maybe 2!!!!

jcase?? He and jamezelle are EXTREMELY smart guys (jamezelle rooted the TB without even owning it)!! Glad you got it bro! If you don't mind me asking, what did you guys have to do?

Don't expect to much more...HTC tends to pretty much max out theirs from the start....Incredible was only stable to around 1.2..... but anything will help..undervolting may help battery however...Just sayin so folks don't get their hopes up too high...Now if this time is different and I'm wrong...what a wonderful day!!!!!

Hey Droid,
I made one mistake after step 4 and that was to reboot. I didn't so i was stuck in s-ON. I had to do step 4 over and i was good to go.

Also install rom manager and do a rom backup to your sdcard

OK. I just did the backup and my phone is asking me to chose from several options. Which one? apply sd card:update.zip??
Also I am more interested in underclocking than overclocking at this point just so I can save some battery when not in use. Should I stay away from this or should I download an app?..

Ahhh ok! Glad they got you squared away :)

Thread has been Thunder struck!!

@ Nate....be part of the solution or don't answer.
.

I'll try to remember to not offer any assistance in the future. Glad you finally got through the process. Seems like you missed one step. Darn.

Nate

WOW!! I didn't mean to hurt your feelings but I was just asking for help.
Sorry.

You didn't hurt my feelings. Not sure where you would get an idea like that. I've been lmao this entire thread.

Nate

Need help Step 4 Plz

I flashed my Tb and rebooted, now i cant get access to my diskdrive, i have changed my settings, rebooted the phone and is not popping up. Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks

I really hate forced email confirmation.

Anyway, I joined to contribute a little bit. Realized after the fact I wasn't in the right thread, but in case someone can assist.

  • I strongly suggest that instructions be clear that an SD card is required. I yanked it thinking that logically, I would want the files written on the phone and have the SD card left alone as that's where all of my stuff is. Fortunately I had a spare laying around.
  • Step 1 "seemed" to go through but the phone never went to bootloader. It sat there oblivious. I had to trigger Step 1 twice to get it to go.
  • The phone did not flash nor did it prompt upgrade after selecting bootloader. It still took me to the menu options for FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, etc. Selecting any of these then prompted the upgrade. I'm guessing this is telling the phone to actually reboot itself.
  • Step 2 never got off the ground. It claimed it was loading something but the phone never changed. Rooter sat there with a bunch of dots for over an hour, and I knew it had never even gotten anywhere. And unfortunately, unlike Step 1, you can't trigger it again to force it to go through.
  • Realizing that Step 1 had already completed, I shut down Rooter, and relaunched thinking I could just then trigger Step 2 and continue where I left off. Well, it proceeded to basically do the Step 1 operations again, defeating that purpose.

I may have to attempt the manual steps because for some reason it's just not working with Rooter no matter how many times I try. I was at it for over 6 hours yesterday and eventually went to bed.

it really isn't hard once you understand the issues at hand. I'll be happy to SLOWLY walk you through it if you need help. I am the absolute nooby but I did get my phone to root. Tell me where you are and I'll guide you

I could use some help rooting my TB I downloaded the easy root 3 step file got it on computer pluged in my phone no wifi set on charge downloaloaded the little zip I guess for adb when I press 1 says it cant find it it is showing up on my computer as a disk drive L weird to me

I tried that first and it didn't work for me. Do it the manual way and we can get this done. Do you have the links? If not go to this link. [Exclusive] How To Root The HTC ThunderBolt And Unlock Its Bootloader | Android News, Reviews, Apps, Games, Phones, Tablets, Tips, Mods, Videos, Tutorials - Android Police

If you have a problem downloading them...tell me and I'll send you over on a PM the loaded files. DO NOT OPEN THE PG05IMG zip files, only download them.
I'll explain why later. After the download...the whole process takes about 20 minutes or so to complete
