Tips to Help Improve Battery Life on ThunderBolt

OK, seems like my worrying was not founded. I'm at 5 hours 35 mins and at 47% battery with moderate use. The battery seems to fall a lot early on then level out as time goes on. I can live with that.

Seems to me that unlike the OG Droid which keeps 100% battery for 20%, that this thing drops 20% right away then slowly drops more over the next 50%. I will have to get used to that.

OK after 5 hours 35 mins I'm at 47% battery with moderate use. My conclusion is that the battery drops quite rapidly from 100 to 80% then slows down after that. Kinda the opposite of what most fuel gauges do in vehicles and what the OG Droid did (stay at full forever then quickly drop).

I disagree. I have been using my phone for about 13 hours today and still have about 50% left. I did bump charge it this morning to make sure it was a full charge.

Eight hours off charge so far. A few calls, emails, texts. A little interwebs. 49% left.
It does lose more at first than my Motos, then levels off it seems.

I don't have the bad battery life on the Thunderbolt people are talking about. I get a full day of use on a single charge from my Tbolt with normal usage. Thats the same as I got from my D1 that was rooted and overclocked to 1ghz. For me the D1 and Tbolt are comparable on battery life. I don't live in a 4G area so maybe that's the difference for me, I don't know.

4G kills battery life fast, so that would make a big, big difference. To me, the whole point of buying a 4G phone would be to take advantage of the 4G speed boost. And luckily, I do live in an area with 4G Verizon (LTE).

Meh, at least the data plan is the same so if you dont use the lte your not getting screwed.

Not yet but I'm thinking about it. I don't know much about batteries but that doesn't seem like that much more capacity, an extra hour or two?

I didn't know to have a smartphone you had to spend all your time on it. Some days I'm able to use my phone for things other than calls and texting. My employer does not look kindly on my spending my work time playing with my phone. It's also a no, no when behind the wheel.

Even my original Droid lost the charge pretty fast when playing games, watching videos, etc.

I did all of these, and the battery is working great.
Having the background stuff on really takes the most out of the battery I noticed.

Phone has been on since 7am and its now 6:37, its a little more than half way.

Battery meter incorrect?

I bump charged my phone before going to work. Same as i did the previous night, which left me with about 50% battery on my way home. This night, after about 1.5hrs of being unplugged and idle in my pocket it says i'm at 75% battery.(same apps & settings both nights as well) So i turn the phone off and then on and put it back in my pocket not thinking about it. 30 minutes later i remember to check, now i'm at 45% battery. I turn it off then on and watch it this time, now 40% battery. Again i try off & on, 35% battery. So in about 2 hours of being unplugged and not even in use, i've lost over half my battery.

I decide to turn it off completely, then about 2hrs later on my lunch i turn it on and it's 38% battery. It stayed this same % for my entire lunch while under heavy use. I got home and decided not to charge it just to let it die, well it's only down to 25% and it's been on for about 13hrs straight with 4g on, no wifi.

So it seems more like the battery meter is wrong, and the battery life is actually ok. Anyone have any suggestions other than just letting it die completely & recharge?

I'm having the exact same experience as you. The battery meter is wrong. I'm on almost 8 hours and 39% battery life with some medium usage. The % is going up and down and some %s go quick and some %s go slow.
