[Tutorial]Sysctl and you, A guide to better preformance and battery life.

Imoseyon, what does the future hold as far as using crond to help out android?

honestly i haven't given it much thought. Aside from daily cache drops, I have cron backing up my custom init scripts and SMS db to the sdcard. I also have a cron job that kills some memory resident apps that shouldn't be memory resident. The potential is pretty huge - I can practically replace all my Tasker jobs with some work, and it will probably consume a lot less battery than Tasker. Well I guess i've given it some thought. ;)

Hmmm, interesting. Hows the differnce feel like with it killing memory resident apps?

Well there aren't enough of them (at least for me) to make a difference. I like being able to make sure that they're not running of course. :)

Ive followed all the steps and run the tests everything is fine. Im on a rooted droid x running liberty 1.5 and overclocked to 1.2ghz. What do you suggest to run the droid overclock on in relation to this zip?

What do you mean by "run the droid overclock on"?
Clock speed? VSELs?

Yeah that's what I meant just recommendations and anything to optimize battery life and performance

What is the number that returns when you run pgrep -f crond? Is higher or lower better? I flashed the zip, and then ran quickclock. I am using the balanced setting and now the number returns at 4056.

Thanks for input.

The number is the process id of crond. Doesn't matter how high or low as long as you get a number.

1000mhz-50

Yes flash right on top, and it's on his site but I included it under notes. The new one installs busybox 1.80.0 and tweaks minfree differently.

LIBERATED DROID X OC'D 1.25GHZ

Does it matter if we mount system before installing zip. I hit mount system then install zip from sd . Does that affect anything or matter that I mounted system. Noob question I know.

It's not a noob question. Every .zip is different and to be safe I usually always mount the system first, it wont hurt anything.
