[Tutorial]Sysctl and you, A guide to better preformance and battery life.

Thanks much
I'll answer! :)

Yeah flashing over the old version is fine. To verify run the following command "pgrep -f crond". If you get a number as an output then the zip has been applied correctly.

BTW, I'll have a new version that fixes the wget problem later today.

I've got version 3.2 of the zip, and when i run "pgrep -f crond", I don't get anything.... i did flash it over the previous version, if that matters... I did see that my "max events" and "wifi scan time" have been changed, and all the numbers when i "sysctl -a | grep vm" look right... just wondering if everythings cool.

running liberty 1.5 on a D2.

thanks for all the info & help & stuff.

Yup you're mostly fine. If crond isn't running the daily purge isn't going to happen though. Can you type "busybox1171 ps | grep cron", and post the output?

I'm in the same boat as jovapa. After I flashed 3.2 over 3.1, I didn't get any number output with the pgrep -f crond.

I typed the "busybox ps | grep cron and got 3275.

wow the combination of this tweak and liberty 1.5 owns all competition my phone has been on 19hrs and some change and i had the mototorch on by accident for like 9 hrs since i was using my d2 as a flashlight to adjust my surround sound system yesterday and its still got 30% left. i had to use my fiancee's og droid to call my phone to locate it just now and to my amazement it not only rung but had some juice left. dancedroid

hey guys, v3.21 is up. This update should start crond properly and "pgrep -f crond" should work. Sorry about the bug - wish i had a D2 to test! haha.

you're awesome :)

was just about to post a screen shot of my terminal when I saw
this.

now "pgrep -f crond" brings back "2262", and sysctl looks good too.

Jboxen: In the tutorial it says to mount the system before applying the .zip
Do you just mean boot into clockwork and install .zip from SD? (Like on the imoseyon site) Sorry for the noob question, just wanna make sure I apply it correctly.

Also, using the .zip method, can you revert back to stock settings after the .zip has been applied?

knivesout, no need to mount system. The zip will take care of it. As for reverting back, it's fairly simple: 1) revert build.prop file, and 2) delete /etc/init.d/99imoseyon.

Thank you! I doubt I would need to revert back, but I like knowing it's possible.

When going to overclock menu>advanced settings..

Under sysctl right after the first option it says set sysctl on boot do you leave it unchecked?
