[Tutorial]Sysctl and you, A guide to better preformance and battery life.

Great guide. Thanks imoseyon for sharing your tricks with us. I manually entered the sysctl mods and flashed the zip last night. So far today I've been unplugged for 6 hrs and at 70% battery versus I'm usually getting down to 40% or less by this time of day. Keep up the great work!

Imoseyon, what does the future hold as far as using crond to help out android?

Ive followed all the steps and run the tests everything is fine. Im on a rooted droid x running liberty 1.5 and overclocked to 1.2ghz. What do you suggest to run the droid overclock on in relation to this zip?

What do you mean by "run the droid overclock on"?
Clock speed? VSELs?

honestly i haven't given it much thought. Aside from daily cache drops, I have cron backing up my custom init scripts and SMS db to the sdcard. I also have a cron job that kills some memory resident apps that shouldn't be memory resident. The potential is pretty huge - I can practically replace all my Tasker jobs with some work, and it will probably consume a lot less battery than Tasker. Well I guess i've given it some thought. ;)

Hmmm, interesting. Hows the differnce feel like with it killing memory resident apps?

What is the number that returns when you run pgrep -f crond? Is higher or lower better? I flashed the zip, and then ran quickclock. I am using the balanced setting and now the number returns at 4056.

Thanks for input.
