How long did you wait? The first boot for me took several minutes.

upgraded from 7 to 8....all of the apps moved to SD are now gone. is there a way to restore them w/o re downloading all from market? they should still be somewhere on SD but cant find.
Did you use Titanium, Astro or Mybackup to back them up? If not, they aren't on your sdcard.
The best way to get ALL your settings and stuff back to how you had them on UD 7.0 (including bookmarks, texts, website signin info, apps, home setup) is to do the following:
Restore your advanced nandroid backup of UD 7.0
Make a new advanced nandroid backup of DATA ONLY (uncheck all boxes except DATA)
back out to the main menu.
Wipe data/clear cache 3 times.
Install 8.0
Restore your backup of Data only.
P.S. This is what i do EVERY upgrade for UD. It restores ALL of my settings, bookmarks, texts, apps, etc. So far it has never failed. I got rid of Titanium and Mybackup long ago.

Welcome back BD! I tried a bunch of other ROMs during the drama but I kept coming back to yours.
One small thing though, how to I get the stock virtual keyboard instead of the skinned one? I've always had a hard typing on this one for some reason.

You can still do it and it will save all the other data. I guess you'll have to make a backup for the ones on your sdcard. At least it will save you from signing back in, bookmarks, texts, etc.
how do i get back onto the phone? my last backup was the data backup and i'm stuck in bootloops now that i've cleared cache/data
Mount from recovery. Just click mount or unmount until you see it pop up on your computer...
