I was just trying to show most of my settings, i do know the min scrolling speed set to 0 really helps the snappyness. As for the memory usage settings/caches checked etc etc would help with the redraws i would think. And yes i would think keep in memory and setting opening speed to max 10 would also help with the redraws.

I would say that users could mimic all your settings one by one or a few at a time and see if things get better.... rather than all at once.... I have the two I mentioned set, but I will add the minimum scrolling to 0 and see if anything changes (mine is set to 77 currently...)

Had to remove launcherpro the redraw lag was horrific after any app I used... switched to adw and couldn't run smoother... thanks bd great release

I was having Redraw problems with LP also, change a few settings around and it fixed it.

Under Settings/general settings/
checked=Keep in memory (YES) , enable scrollable widgets (NO) , motorola droid hack (NO) .

Under Settings/advanced settings/memory usage settings/memory usage preset=Moderate. (Not Set)

Under Settings/advanced settings/memory usage settings/
checked=use homescreen caches (YES) , build caches as needed (YES) , clear caches on exit (NO) , prevent force-closes (YES) .

Under Settings/advanced settings/
unchecked=elastic scrolling, high quality scrolling, use 3d drawer (All Unchecked)

Under Settings/advanced settings/minimum scrolling speed/
Set to 0 ( set @ 77)

Under Settings/advanced settings/opening speed
Both set to 10 (App Drawer set @ 10, but Screen Preview set @ 7)

LauncherPro is snappy as hell for me currently, and since I adjusted my preferences I haven't had and issues with redraws nor FCs...

will definitely keep this in mind if adw doesn't work out but at the moment its awesome... a lot smaller in memory as well.... LP was eating well over 2 mbs and adw is about 500kb

i did have the settings for keep in memory for LP but it didn't seem to help any

What's the process with updating kernels on SPR? i've never done it... Change the kernel to update.zip?

Compared to the stock kernel would a chevy kernel help or hurt my battery life?

now i have a question...i seem to be having troubles on 8.0 with voice search. you know the little mic you touch then chat into. well it keeps force closing and i cant get it to work. all my other issues i fixed but this. I tried to redownload it off the marketplace...didnt work. i have tried reinstalling 8.0 three times now and it still doesnt work? any ideas? when the phone boots it force closes this app for some reason.

i just flashed 2 different chevy kernels and both wouldn't let me go over 550 [max] in setcpu

any ideas?

Anyone using UltimateJuice/JuiceDefender with UD8?

I find this is an amazing way to extend battery life....but with the latest ROMs I have tried (LithiumMod, CM6, etc) it caused frequent lockups and reboots. As soon as I uninstalled and rebooted...these issues have disappeared.

If you are running SP Recovery Yes that is how you install a kernel. About the battery life, i run 125x1200 Low Voltage From P3, and use a app called setcpu. Setcpu has "profiles" so you can set the min and max, say min 125Mhz and max 550Mhz to save battery power.

BlackDroid is working on an update.zip to fix several problems.
