If you have SPRecovery then yes, it has to be renamed update.zip but if you have ClockworkMod Recovery that isn't necessary... you can just navigate to the file and install it.

Clockwork will give you a error due to Sub directories and spaces in file name.

I read that if you bypass the little green droid activation at the beginning and load everything through titanium backup, clear your market data, and manually sync your google account then it works. I haven't tested this yet though. frankly, I just gave up on this rom all together.....

UD8 is up and running, been booting without a problem. Bypass the little green droid by not signing into gmail. Apparently the rom has already been installed, it's just wanting to sink with your acct. Select that you will sign in later and it drops you at your new UD8 homescreen. Then download titanium from the market and batch restore all user apps and data. I did skip a few during the process, but only as housekeeping. I haven't clear market data just yet, not really sure that I have to because all of my apps are on the phone. And I didn't do any manual sync from gmail, it already synced up the contact.

I've been customizing and booting all afternoon, even tried out a few of the different boot animations. Going to stick with the D2 eye for now! So far definitely worth the effort. :icon_ banana::icon_ banana:

can you or somebody tell me how to effectively change the boot screens?? because when I execute the command to change a boot screen I wait for it to finish, then after that, I reboot my phone but it is still the default UD logo. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong....

Disclaimer ... I am a noob and have very little experience with the operating system and I just flashed UD8 yesterday.

I'm not sure what command you are entering, I went into settings>Ultimate Droid>UD Extras selected Bootanimations and picked the one I wanted. Pressed the Yes button when asked to install and then rebooted the phone. Pretty easy.

lol thanks it finally worked. I had to turn it off completely to get it to work though. don't know why. anyway it seems good now. I did the reboot before but it didn't take effect but I seem ok now.:icon_ banana:

Well, I'm officially giving up on this ROM. I flashed UD7, set it all up and rebooted successfully. Then I got an error message on my SD card that is was corrupt and needed to be formated. So I lost all my music, movies and backups.. Was able to re-format the SD card on my computer and get it recognized after flashing back to a really old CM backup I had. Then I had to upgrade to CM6 and re-do all my settings..
So, I'm done trying to get this ROM to work as it just doesn't seem to like my phone. Thanks for all the help guys!

Can you just reinstall your wallpaper? Mine does that from time to time as well... I just re-select my wallpaper and keep on truckin'

UD 8.0 rom

Ok I am having a problem loading this 8.o rom onto my phone...i get it on there but when i try to reboot my phone it just freezes at the motorla part of the load up. Anybody have any ideas why that is happening? I feel like the link above to DL the 8.0 rom is the problem...did anyone else have any problems?

did you wipe data and cache after or before you installed the update.zip?

its either you didnt wipe data/cache, or you installed a theme directly after the rom before you signed into google, or a kernel issue. in which youd have to either lower the voltage or speed.

Why didn't you back up your card on your computer BEFORE you reformatted it? Corrupt card errors are common on the phone, but 99% of the time, your computer is able to read the card fine.
