[Update] Verizon's New Family Data Plans Begin: It's Called the Share Everything Plan

I'm sure its been confirmed in this thread already, but I don't have the time to look through it all.

Are people still retaining their unlimited data after pre-ordering the SG3, even after Verizon announced this plan? I was going to pre-order on the 6th, but was waiting until my next paycheck. Am I screwed?

Yes to the preorder question

Yes if u pre order SG3 you will keep your unlimited plan

You want to help clarify that?

Working in the industry, and seeing how and when contracts are renewed on phones that are ordered I'm going to have to call you out here. Your contract on an upgrade does not start/change until the date in which you activate the phone. I'd be very surprised to see us keep Unlimited Data by "locking in" on the preorder.

Well I went to Sprint today to scope out some plans. To get anything comparable to what I have now it would cost me $30 more than what I am paying now. But about $15 less than what I would pay if I switched to the share everything plan. So I could actually still add a third smartphone line now with 2Gb of data and be the same as switching to Sprint. And Sprint has no LTE in the area. Looks like in the long run it will be better for me just to stay right where I am at. I will re-up my two unlimited lines before the 28th and then after that let them all expire and go month to month.

You can also read the post at Droid Life. They confirmed with a rep from Verizon's PR department that if you pre-order the S3 before the 28th, you will retain unlimited.

It's been confirmed almost everywhere

Yes you do retain your unlimited data. However, once one of your family members (assuming that you are under a family plan) decides to upgrade a phone at a discounted price, you are screwed and you will be forced into the new plan.

I have three phones on my account. Mine with unlimited data, an Iphone with 2gb and a non smart phone. If i upgrade the non smart phone to a Smart phone and then transfer it to my line with the unlimited data would i be able to keep my data? Also the data package on the phone i took the upgrade from would it be charged $30 a month or will it go back to the existing plan.

This will actually save me a little money. I have 4 smart phones, 2 with unlimited data, 2 with 2gb, on a family plan sharing 2000 minutes. I use a total of 2-3GB of data a month combined and my monthly bill is about $300. With the new plan at 6GB a month to make sure I don't go over, my bill would be about $240.

I bought my razr in december and got the double data deal they had going on for Christmas. Does that mean it will go away in two years or will customers still have the option to have individual data for phones?

Thanks in advance

So.. just like everyone else I calculated my bills on different carriers

Current Plan:
Verizon family plan
700 minutes $119.96
Free unlimited texting
3 Smart phones (2 $30/unlimited, 1 $30/2GB) and 1 dumb phone
$ 221.45

I'm not saving anything from unlimited texting since 700 mins only cost 89.99 now and unlimited texting is $30.

New Plan
3 smart phones $ 120
1 dumb phone $ 30
6 GB of shared data $80
$ 230

AT&T
700 Minutes for first 2 lines $69.99
2 additional lines $20
3 smart phones with 3GB each at $30 = $90
$ 179.99

So with the new plan, I'm paying $9 more with only 6GB of data to share. $9 more is not too bad but I would have to watch my data usage like crazy with only 6GB allowed to share....
AT&T charges less than the verizon even with my current plan, but I stayed with this company:mad: because of my unlimited data plan..(I hate having caps)
Once I lose my unlimited data plan there is no reason for me to pay $50 more to Verizon... I'm ready to say f off Verizon I'm outta here.
I live in Socal and AT&T coverage is amazing here.. even better than the Verizon in some places.
So.. I would be paying $50 less with greater and newer phones with trillion times better Customer Service.
I'm seriously getting disappointed with the Verizon's customer service.. I don't wanna say this but seriously their customer service is a total garbage.. I wonder how the Verizon trains their employees.
On the other hand, I stopped by the AT&T store recently for the first time and their customer service was absolutely fantastic.
If I'm paying more than $200 for my phone bill I would expect a better and friendly customer service.

as some others have said, it's been confirmed by many (including VZWSupport on twitter) that you're good as long as you preorder before 6/28, even if you activate after
