[Update] Verizon's New Family Data Plans Begin: It's Called the Share Everything Plan

Alright so what if my little brother wants a smartphone after the 28th, will the plan change because he changes to a smartphone?

No he will just have to choose a tiered data plan $30 for 2GB or $50 for 4GB and so on the whole plan will not have to change unless you so choose to go over the new plan

Eh its kind of a grey area. I will not say much but I am an Employee for Verizon Wireless and have completed the training that they are pushing out for these new plans and those are the options as it stands. So as it stands now and according to the training Verizon will leave you alone and let you keep your plan if you continue month the month.

I can't help just to :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: at that. Reminding me of that July 2011 to now. Again, I can't blame all reps at Verizon really. It's all a mess and I feel for the good folks that work there. I saw one rep refused to teach trainee just cause he's afraid that he would lose some work hours . Anyways, I'm not going to self-incriminate myself to Verizon with stupid stuff, since I am a Verizon customer and want to enjoy my plan as long as I can.

On a side note, I read in an article that I actually can lock my contract for 2 further years even after this plan has been implemented. I just need to take my retail purchased phone, and ask them to lock me up for 2 more years.

It wont lock in your 2 years it will just leave you at a month to month standing the only way that they lock you in for 2 more years is by signing a NEW contract which will go with any new terms and conditions one new term being the new data plans you have to choose. So yea you are correct in the you can keep your data but it wont extend your contract any.

Maybe they won't force the change. I do understand they can't keep evey plan concieved alive, and I am not hating on Verizon.

But as an average customer it is agravating. Most customers won't understand. I watched a guy get mad because he couldn't return a year old battery he'd never used? Most of these people don't even use near the limit. Looks like they would have at least one plan avaiable to existing customers, maybe with a small cost adder that would allow for unlimited usage. Most customers that would pay for it probably would not use it (not hurtung Verizon) and the few that do would still be happy.

That's why I didn't give the sales girl Hell like the guy beside me. :)

I'm not as worried about the unlimited data as I am the Talk Text & Data Plus $20 Disc promo that I have on three lines. This promo saves me $60 a month on my bill and to lose that is the real deal breaker. What happens to this promo after an upgrade?

Ok at $50 for 1GB of shared data I'm probably going to switch to Sprint when my contract ends in 2 years. I use about 5GB per month when I don't do any tethering and on top of that I am the only one on our family plan who has a smart phone so I would get stuck paying for the data. I refuse to pay $20 more for only 1GB of data when I have unlimited for $30. Plus 6GB would cost me $50 more than I am currently paying. At that price I can move my line to Sprint with unlimited everything.

I pay about $45 per month as a secondary line with data and insurance. 6GB of shared data would bump my payment to $95. With Sprint I can get unlimited everything for about $80.

Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
Sprint - $80 everything ... per line and plus $10 extra fee for data

Awwww Shucksss... Oh well ... I guess I rather take Verizon's rep word for it... Bye bye Verizon data, as no way in heck I support your data tower. I hope my phone last till I can break my contract off. With no guarantee that I can lock my contract for further years, my investment for paying retail priced phone is useless. Verizon can change their mind all the time... up to their discretion... I could get stuck with brand new $500 worth of brick phone that could last just a month of owning that phone. Very smart Verizon .... Well thought of plan to fight those people said elsewhere that they could save money if they used 40GB+ data :icon_ devil:. So far, I have not seen any good feedbacks for these type of users even though they paid the advertised price. Verizon can rule over them without any pressure from different unlimited users in hope that they could keep theirs longer.

I got lost on this one(I got that your not happy though). Not sure what you mean.

You are purchasing CDMA phone. A secure phone, but lack of value (GSM is more attractive worldwide). 2 years are a long time, and there will always be changes from Verizon about what a user can and can't do (so far, there is no promise from Verizon to allow us doing this forever). From June28, I will have to buy a high value phone designed for Verizon only in hope to keep unlimited data (All depends on the old phone situation ofc of when I will need to purchase a replacement). It is normal right that I expect some longevity of using unlimited data when I start a new cycle from a new expensive phone? We all also know that in order to own a smartphone, we must apply data charges to it. Single data charge would cost a user $30 for 2 GB (remember current users are not required to move to the new share plan, yet). At the end of my 2 years contract, Verizon can at any time send me a letter basically forcing me to comply by paying 2GB for $30 from then on. Why would I pay $500 worth of phone in the future, if I can only be happy using it for few months? With that kinda situation, I am basically end up with a brick phone (for I vehemently refuse to accept to their new condition). Why would I pay full retail then? Knowing that tiered data users can still purchase phone at a subsidized price.

I see the same senarios and questions being asked over and over again. All the information you need and pretty much every possible senario has been posted in this thread already. Please take a moment to read through the thread.

I can answer this question for you. I'm on a 5 line Talk Text & Data Plus w. $20 discount each line. If any of us upgrade our phones after June 28, we all get forced onto the new plan. So we lose that nice discount AND see a huge increase. I'm estimating around $80 additional cost with a limit of 10 GB on 5 lines, which is not nearly enough.

Or forced onto the old plan, but with tiered data on all lines. It's still our choice. But either way, we will lose the $20 discount per line. That is pretty much the main sticking point in me holding onto unlimited as long as I can. If I didn't have the discount, switching to Share Everything would actually save me about $10 a month. But with the discount, switching to Share Everything would cost me $90 a month.

Just curious, is anyone else planning on doing what I am? I have a Droid X which sucks. I pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S3 because well, I don't have a choice if I want my unlimited data. I am planning on not even opening it. Then, when the Motorola Droid Razr HD comes out, selling my New in box Galaxy S3 on ebay and buying the Razr HD on ebay at a severely discounted price as I am no longer paying full price for it. I just have to hope retail price on the S3 and Razr HD are the same.

Oh, I also forgot. Current plan: 1 smartphone, 2 regular - price just over $100 with discounts. Should I go to this stupid new plan, I lost my unlimited data and pay $70 more... Now, Verizon did tell me I don't have to switch, I can just pay the same amount I am now for 2gbs of data... Full price phones here I come. Glad I know how to ebay!

With my 2 lines I would about break even with the new plans even taking my talk and text discount into account. Reason for this is the additional $30 I spend a month for the hotspot so I can do work on the train (Amtrak's wifi is WEAK). RIght now I pay 175 a month which 155 or so of that being the actual cost of my plan and the rest is taxes.

With the new plans and my discount I would be at 160 for 10GB though I could probably get away with 8GB dropping me to 152 a month. Depending on how they do the taxes and fees I would be about even as I am now and yet get subsidized phones saving me about 15 a month if I roll an additional 300-400 across 2 years...

Out of everything I am still more pissed that they will not let me upgrade my line which is up for an upgrade 7/8 to get the SGIII which doesnt ship till the 9 or 10th. Never asked for an early upgrade or anything before. Just total BS IMHO.

Honestly those on the new plans can make a pretty penny off of us if they so chose. Get their phones subsidized and then flip them for our current phone which would be like 12 months old and say $200 off of the buyer. So they get their money back and get a phone for free that is only a couple months old. In a way Verizon has in advertently created a black market for phones
