[Update] Verizon's New Family Data Plans Begin: It's Called the Share Everything Plan

I have not found a search function from tapatalk, any advice to locate it would be beneficial, thanks. As I hate having to navigate the forums from my mobile browser, too much java slows things down.

I hardly do any posting from mobile, so I'm not sure about searching within tapatalk, but if I were wanting to find if something has been discussed in a specific thread, I would probably use a Google search directed at the specific thread which would get me to the correct page, then once you click on it, tapatalk should offer to open the page for you.

i.e. google search the following

Code:
site: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-news/211657-update-verizons-new-family-data-plans-begin-its-called-share-everything-plan.html GS3 OR GSIII OR SIII OR S3

and you should link up any page in this thread with GS3 and/or GSIII and/or SIII and/or S3. Usually a good place to start to see if something has been discussed in a long thread even if you aren't on tapatalk.

Menu-Search within a thread.

Or that... hahaha

How do you flip a phone? (I know what the term means) my contact says if I change my phone number or revive thurs phone from my account I have to pay the subsidy discount back to them. (both my phone from Amazon and NewEgg) I love penny deals (although on this phone I jumped in too early it was $19.99 when I bought it and $0.01 a couple of weeks later)

That is an agreement you make with amazon and all other third party retailers. You have to not change phones or numbers within a certain period of time. If I buy a SIII or a Maxx right now through VZW I could turn right around and sell it. They have me locked into a 2 year contract so they get their money either way. If I fulfill the contract or if I terminate early.

You don't activate phones anymore. Well 4G phones anyway. It is all about the SIM cards.

Do you have any unlimited data on your smartphone? If not, why worry? What you can do is this. Let your phone w/o unlimited data to runs out of its contract (seems to me July 8th?) You don't have to pay any fees once you entered Month to Month. You can pull that phone out of your family plan and create individual line for it. New plan is designed for Talk and text. If your old plan is not under 1000 Minutes, then the new plan is the way to go. I am stuck to the gut with my old plan :happy3: . I only pay $160 for 5 phones :icon_ peace:. Once I offloaded my smartphones, I can use subsidized (free) dumb phones and reduce my monthly to $100 .

Both of my phones are unlimited. Having only 2 lines I would need to add a line to my current plan with dumb phone to split out one of my current lines. That woudl only cost me more money having basically 2 smartphone plans instead of one shared plan. Not to mention I lose unlimited on a line.

I use too much data to get down below $150-160 with the new plans so that I could get 8-10GB.

No one is forcing you to change your plan, very simple, just go buy the phone outright add it to your existing account and your plan stays the same, what's so hard to understand here, you want a subsidized phone from Verizon you will have to sign a new contract, very simple. I have already made a thread about how this works.

Anybody seen this? My mouth dropped open.....because of the amounts of GB involved.... How come I dont remember hearing about this???

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Verizon-axes-top-shared-data-tier-is-making-a-heavy-internal-push-to-promote-Share-Everything-plans_id31590

Is this even true?? Those amounts are what Verizon should offer.

I don't know why... but that link is messed up with the "is" from is this even true. Instead of going straight to the article, the link sent me to the home page of the website where I had to scroll down to find the article.
I hope this corrected one will work :p.

Verizon axes top shared data tier, is making a heavy internal push to promote Share Everything plans
Anyways 20 -30 GB line are meant for Businesses ($100 for 10 GB  is already too much IMO). It did show color of what Verizon are all about tho right? Giving Extra Money for American Families and Businesses to spend elsewhere :icon_eek: :icon_ devil: (Very true if you are part of Verizon :rofl2: ).

Let this be a lesson to those who said "trust the rep to guide you to what you want and best for you".

"Another tidbit passed along to us is that Verizon is making a massive internal push with sales associates to promote the Share Everything plans – employees are getting rewarded for switching people to the shared data plans at the same rate as they would normally get for extending a contract. We were told that employees who are successful at switching customers over are in line to make “quite a bit of money”." :icon_ devil:

I think he just ruing the fact that Verizon refused to give him early update from his old phone. I believe he had upgrade available this July, yet S3 is scheduled to arrive mid-July anyways. Tough position for him, so good luck!

This quote came from the same site that jroc mentioned earlier. This username mentioned that he is a Verizon Rep.

"Just like with any product out in the market, once it is no longer offered, produced, manufactured, you can no longer obtain it. Same goes with what you started with. You signed a 2 yr contract, both parties fulfilled there ends. Now since the contract ended, neither party is legally bound to one another. So if you would like great phones with a low price, and renew a contract, you will have to choose a current rate plan that is offered to take advantage of lower priced equipment. Things are changing, and everyone will have to think about data from now on. That's all man. I understand your frustration, but it's going to happen sooner or later."

Remember Verizon will always think in the interest of their own well being just like us. They DO NOT promise us on how long their statement "Of not Forcing you to the new plan" thing will last. They also made it vague of what's "not forcing" meant. Are they not forcing those that still on contract to the share data automatically? Or Are they not forcing Unlimited Users even after our contract ended? Or Are they not forcing Unlimited users to the new plan, as long as, that said users are using their data accordingly? The answers is? Both Parties have fulfilled their contract, hence neither party are bound to one another (Up to the Carrier's discretion). You just better hope your last subsidized phone last for a long time as no one guarantee how long you can enjoy Unlimited Data Plan with your brand spanking new "full retail phone". Remember all this mess with their "soft promise" of grandfathered unlimited data users only lasted a year.

I understand all of that but you picked my one post in response to another about why adding a line was not a solution or using an upgrade from a line with tiered data since both of my lines have unlimited.

For someone like me with two phones however buying unsubsidized phones results in paying roughly about 25 more a month if you float the 300 uptick for phone across 2 years. It is something I will have to strongly think about in the next couple weeks before my upgrade comes up as there will be no going back to unlimited. All depends on what the second hand market is like for phones and how many SGIII flood the market. LOL.

The new tiered plans would result in me breaking even a month or saving a few bucks if I could keep myself to 8GB. Add in the 25-30 a month in saved subsidized fees (yes I understand VZW prorates this across two years in yoru contract to regain the amount BUT if I were to stay with VZW for 2 years anyway then that point is moot) and I come out ahead in a way. I am not one of those that woudl wait 6 months after a phone is released to get the has been phones to save money.

That as well. I have talked to many reps and while they might be willing to give me an early upgrade to be processed in the store I can not get one to update the date in the system.

The issue with that is that since they "can not" update the date in the system I can not go to Costco to upgrade now then return within 90 days. I would have to get it through VZW and thus only have 14 days which would not afford me nough time to get somehting like the GSIII especially with the continued pushback of dates.

I believe you will still have 14 days after you receive the phone to return it. And you could always sell it and use that towards getting a different phone.

Well, we can't nickle and dime like that as well :p. That would be a headache! :rofl2: I know tho that it is kinda mind boggling once you know that Verizon are doing $300 for 2 years thing  . Just remember, I believe you are one of the users who will benefit by using Unlimited Data. 10GB should costs you $100 and every 1GB overage is an additional $10, is that still not enough to give you a return even though you may need to purchase full price phone?

You said you needed to keep it below $150-160? 10GB of data should cost you ($40*2 + $100) $180 a month, so that should be $20- $30 savings (not include overage fee if you use beyond 10GB). I believe that buying retail phone @ $500 still be beneficial to you.

- I'm kinda confused with your second one tho. Verizon stores are willing to give you an early upgrade but not with costco? If so, your main concern is that return policy that Costco offer 90 days while Verizon only offer 14 days? If Verizon store reps are saying they are willing to give you an upgrade, why haven't you utilize that by pre-ordering SGS3 instead of getting the available phone in store first? You can lock in your contract to new 2 years contract, and like tisdroid said, it should get you 14 days once your phone arrived.

People have had mixed success using an early upgrade on a Pre-ordered S3. I would say that more than half the people who were approved for an early upgrade were told that they must use it on a currently available phone. Others were given additional stipulations (i.e. NO iPhone, NO Razr Maxx). It's a YMMV situation with the early upgrades.

"Others were given additional stipulations (i.e. NO iPhone, NO Razr Maxx)." Well.... that's such a Nazi rep  (I met a few, so ikr :icon_evil:) .. BUTTTT "People have had mixed success using an early upgrade on a Pre-ordered S3." That is the glimmer of hope he can aim for... Nothing to lose anyways as he worked his (you know what) off by asking multiple reps to get variety of feedbacks. :yahoo:

Just realized, now that all the dust has settled, that I have a "free" upgrade to use before the 28th. My mom has been month to month for almost two years (she's a secondary line on my plan) and she has no interest in a smartphone, and doesn't like any of the feature phones they offer. I'm not in the market for a new phone right now, especially with ICS running on my Bionic. What would you guys suggest? Let the upgrade go? Transfer it to my line, get a smartphone and flip it?

I mean I know I'll have the upgrade after the 28th, but to use it would mean losing unlimited data, obviously.
