Just a few weeks prior I got the 1 for 2 data plan. 20 gigabytes is workable for me. I do not know what verizon is thinking what is cher family thing. I know if I had to do it now I would say bye bye.
What I can't figure out is why is a smartphone voice and text $40 and a feature phone voice and text $30. Isn't voice and text the same regardless of what kind of phone you have? I have 2 smartphones and 3 feature phones. One smartphone has unltd data and the other has 4gb. Now I don't use but maybe 3gb total between both phones per month, but if I switch to the shared plan, my bill increases $50. I just can't see any reason to swith voluntarily or with an upgrade. So I start to save my money and I'll buy the phone outright from now on.
This might be good for large families, but it seems like a step back in terms of consumption/convenience (at least you are going to have to pay an arm and a leg for it).
I know every company is out to make money and they set a price which they believe is reasonable, but with every content provider pushing cloud storage, this seems a bit much. At least we as consumers have choices and can speak with our wallets.
I know I am late reading this thread and I don't think I will go thru the 85 pages.... This is LOUSY for big families.... we have 1 basic phone, 4 smart phones; we are currently paying about $250 before taxes and discount.... we have 12gb of data (3 phones X 4gb) and 1 phone at unlimited..... with the new plan 12gb data (just to compare a bit more accurate) would cost us $330.... and that is adding nothing for my unlimited data..... this past month, none of us used more than 1gb each of data..... we do currently have 700 minutes and unlimited texting..... But that is a ridiculous price increase (we also have double the data)....
I just had a thought.... I am playing $1.99 a month for extended warranty..... so if down the road....say 3 years my razr starts acting up, I can get a refurbished one for free??? so I would not lose my unlimited data???
This may not be the right place to post this but I need some advice.
I'm getting married in August. My fiance and I are both on separate family plans and are both grandfathered into unlimited data. When we do an assumption of liability, will we be losing unlimited data? Just seeing these family shared plans makes me cringe at the idea of losing unlimited data. Should I try to move the numbers before these shared plans go in effect?
The only way you will keep unlimited is to never upgrade or or make any changes to you plan ever. You will have to buy a phone somewhere and do an esn change if you want a newer phone. But who knows how long that will last, obviously they are wanting to completely do away with unlimited. With seperate plans you will never be able to have one family plan and keep your unlimited.
How awful of a company.Verizon is just trying to make more and more money, and all they can say is its what we wanted ..ya right...If there not careful people will go to other carriers...
My bill consists of 450 minutes 1000 text and 10 GB of data. Double the data to 20 becuase I got double data right before they changed...
voice-39.99
text-10.00
data 20(double) 80.00
TOTAL $129.90 add thier taxes and it a total of $133.57
If I was to go to the new plan it would cost $150.00 plus taxs but instead of 450 min and 1000 text it would go to unlimited. So for me the increase is minimal but still its at least a gallon of milk and some lunch meat instead of it going to Verizon.

What Verizon is out to do is make MONEY! A select few will save money where the majority will pay more (for less). It's the way it is. All we can do is skirt around it the best we can until they entirely take it away from everyone.
If those phones are on all one plan yes it could. If you get a new phone at thier discount price which includes usually 2 year contract .
I think you will have to pay the full price of a phone( which can get pricey) in order to keep you present contract....
With verizon's new share everything plan I thought I might be able to get rid of my At&T land line with DSL, but AT&T DSL has a 150 GB cap, my usage for the past year and I averaged 10 GBs per month with a high use of 24 GB. I cannot affort a verizon 30 GB data plan! I might still change to a 4 GB data plan and not use my phone for a hot spot. If Verizon now offers a unlimited data plan for $30 per phone, why cain't they give offer unlimited date for $60 for 2 phones? Then we could get rid of our land lands!
We share a contract with 2 smartphones and it is roughly $200 a month. That is with the unlimited plan, and i use my wiFi ALL THE TIME! These folks are just making the quick money like everybody else and we are mindless sheep that will pay the exuberant fees. As long as we feel like we can get away with stuff, ie. Rooting and pirating software, we will eat that shyte sandwich. Anywayz, good rooting and keep up the interesting work everybody.
My receipt says I signed for another two years with Unlimited data, I went from a month to month unlimited "since my 2 year contract had already expired", reason I did the new two year upgrade was so I can use my last upgrade at subsidized price. If my receipt says Unlimited, then that is what I am getting, I want to see how they get around that. They are bound just like you are by the terms you signed on the day you placed your order, and if on your receipt it says $29.99 for unlimited web and email, then that is what you are getting. Thats why when I get my phone I will go to my closest Verizon store and have them activate it making sure things don't get screwed up with my data plan, I will make them work for that $30 BS fee they charged me.
