[Update] Verizon's New Family Data Plans Begin: It's Called the Share Everything Plan

Really sucks I'm not due for an upgrade for another 8 months..wish I could change phones once more before these stupid plans go into affect

Looks like you will need to buy your new phone outright to keep your current plan.

So, the way I read what's going on, if I've got 2 Droid Xs with unlimited that can be upgraded early now to 4G phones, I need to do it ASAP, correct?

Wow, these prices are a little ridiculous. I would've expected that $100/month would get at least 20GB. Hopefully they'll have double your data promotions at some point.

My wife and I pay $170/month with 1400 minutes (of which we only use 700) plus 250 and 500 text messages (which we are never close to going over) and unlimited data on 2 phones.

We'd end up paying $10 more per month just for less data. We'd never take advantage of unlimited talk and text. These plans suck and aren't beneficial to anyone except verizon.

My question is what happens if you have to use your insurance, will you have to switch plans or can you keep unlimited if you pay the $100 deductable for a replacement?

Making an insurance claim does nothing to your contract. You'll be unaffected by making a claim.

Sounds like to me if you are on an unlimited plan better have that insurance that way it's better to get another phone without paying full price wink wink.

I have 1 smartphone and 1 basic phone both have a $20 voice plan and 1 unlimited data, That is $70. With the new plan it would be $140, doubling my cost. Looks like I can never get a new phone, I will have to try to find a used one unless I move to another company

I am still weighing the possibilities here. I may take a basic phone with unlimited talk and text and get a small wifi tablet. I am being forced to use wifi anyway with data caps so why not use it exclusively. No problem. Save me some $$$

Of course I pay $189.95 now with a 20% reduction from the primary plan (not data) so my bill is around $175. If I ever go tiered I will be paying $40+$40+$30+$80(6GB)=$190 - 20% = $152 plus taxes/fee so around $160-$165 so I will actually save a little.
