Update your PRL'S

Updated to 51893 too. I love the fact that this thread keeps popping up to remind us to check our PRL's. :)

Create a new contact named "Update PRL" and for the phone number use *22891
Once a month dial the contact and get updated.
Is that easy or what? :)

Excellent Idea!....

Can we program it to auto call once every two weeks?:) :icon_ banana:

P.S.... adding the 91 to the end prevents you from having to pick option #2 but instead it does it automatically when you dial.

If this is merely to ensure the latest towers (correct me if I'm wrong), and we are urged to do this every couple of weeks - is VZW putting up that many new towers each month? Can I assume that in my area we'd see 25 or more towers each year? What is the range of each specific tower, and does it vary (ie: taller towers = longer range?)?

I do see a difference in my bars (more) after updating PRL, but a few weeks later, I see another increase depending on where I am (indoors, office, home, shopping, on the road, etc.). Does VZW also "upgrade" existing towers to increase performance - is this also a reason for the frequent dialing of #228?

Just curious as I really have not seen (in my area) any increase in the amount of towers, at least a 25 mile radius or so. I would assume on a trip of several hundred miles or more would also benefit from doing this often as we drive into proximity of different tower cites? Or no?

Whatever the technical reason - it definitely improves performance most of the time. :) mikey
