[Updated] Verizon Plans To Eliminate 'Grandfathered' 3G Unlimited Data Plans

On FAQ it said in order to upgrade and keep your unlimited plan you have to pay full price for the phone.Looks my upgrades will be few and far between.

Yup. Another reason I'm getting a new 4g phone now. I'm so glad I waited to claim my inc2 under warranty with less than a month left. No more in stock so I have to be given a 4g phone. Woot

I just saw that too. If it wasn't because of that fee, the plans are decent with unlimited calls and txt I beleive, but $40 each smartrphone? I'd have considered the 6gb plan as that is close to I pay now with 2 lines and one of those with a smartphone.

It wouldn't be terrible if your family used a little of data AND lots of minutes. We don't.

Edit: said it wrong. :)

Well I am out. I was really hoping that this would benefit those wanting to have more smartphones. Wrong. We currently have two unlimimited data plans and two feature phones. Bill is around $180 with our 25% main line discount. We would need a mimimum of 6GB. So our $180 bill is now gonna run upwards of $230. That is more than if I were to add a third data line right now.

With employer discount our bill is $214 with 4 smartphones all with unlimited text and data with 1400 shared minutes.I will stay with this plan thanks to friends and family and free nites and weekends plus free m2m 1400 minutes is plenty of talk time.

Right now I am in the 700 minute family plan with unlimited data and texts (around $160 after all taxes and fees). I use around 3gb per month on 3g. My upgrade is not until 7/20, so I will try to get an early upgrade, but from reading online it does not seem likely. Looks like I am going to be moving backwards rather than forward. I bought a 64gb card to use instead of Cloud. I will most likely buy a GPS instead of using one built into the phone. At that point I might as well get a dumb phone and a wifi tablet (nexus 7 maybe).

I could see this being good for a large family, but right now, I am tempted to pick up a Google Nexus from the Play store and try t-mobiles $30 unlimited data, text, and 100 minute plan (just use my landline more, which I pay for in a triple play package since it is cheaper, even though I never use it).

This goes out to all of the haters of us on the grandfathered unlimited plan that have been jerks this whole time!
Reminder: You Do NOT Have to Switch to Verizon’s New Share Everything Data Plans – Unlimited Data Can Be Kept – Droid Life

You do not have to switch to the shared plan. Unlimited data can be kept. Boo Ya!

What about the non-haters who have been nice and respectful? Not really fair to favor the minority! :)

What the hell is an access fee? Man I would almost give up unlimited but this access fee thing I can't wrap my head around it. I have to pay to use my data that I pay for? Or am I really confused?

The access fee is the other line so to add another line to ur account would be a access fee

The problem is the minute u upgrade after June 28 and activate that new phone you will lose unlimited data plan no matter what. Im able to upgrade as we speak but was tryin to hold out for razr hd, now I'm forced to upgrade before the 28th.
