Verizon announces HTC Thunderbolt with March 17th release date

Do we have to have the thunderbolt to use 4g? Or will the droid x be available for 4g?

Scratch my last question. I just called my local Verizon to ask if they were selling the Thunderbolt on Thursday, and they said yes. I asked if it was first come-first serve, and she said yes. Then she asked me if I wanted to make an appointment, which I agreed to. I was going to make on for later that day, but then I had a feeling they would either not have enough or sell out, and I don't wanna take that chance, so I made an appointment for 9:00 a.m. when they open.

Ahh i had just given up on waiting when my phone crapped out on me a week ago and had no choice but to get the iphone, without a doubt its a smooth running phone, however android is the system for me so i cant wait until thursday to exchange my phone for a nice new thunderbolt!!

The Thunderbolt is the only 4g Phone on Verizon right now, so assuming that you live in one of the cities that has 4g available in your area, you'll need a Thunderbolt.

Any other phone out right now, including the Droid X won't get 4g.

I looked on the website, it didnt mention a sd card......

FYI - Best Buy Thunderbolt includes a $36 activation fee and DOES NOT include the 32gig card.

Not what my best buy said ,, no activation and sd included

I was told this too.

Question about the activation fee...if there is one, will it be for new customers or anyone getting the phone. I'm upgrading for my NE2 from my EnV2 (Thankfully) and curious about the Activation Fee. Thanks

That is insane. Wirefly is only $199.99, includes the 32GB card, and waives the activation fee (it will show on 1st VZW bill, but will be credited back on the 3rd month).

Whats up guys, i'm a new member ive been following this forum religiously with the thunderbolts speculated release, and just as everyone else im rejoicing right now!!!

I will try my absolute hardest to search for current topics instead of double posting (im a member on several other forums, i know it gets annoying) .... i dont know if anyone has mentioned this, this thread seems to be general talk of the release and all, yesterday when i talked to a verizon corporate store my rep did confirm the 249.00 price but also told me there would be a $100 rebate, wouldn't that be nice!?

Lastly, my NE2 is on 3/29/2011 am i just a crazy person to buy the TB tomorrow? LOL just wondering if you guys would wait the extra what... 13, 14 days? hmmm decisions. Looking forward to all the great help on the forums, i appreciate it everyone.

Just called and made an appointment at a local store to pick up my TBolt tomorrow. I was just going to order online but my wife is angling to sleep in tomorrow and talked me into it. She is aware that if her plan results in me not having my phone this week I will be, not nice. :icon_evil:

Interesting. I spoke with two retail stores and one corporate CSR, and all three representatives said there is no mail-in rebate for the HTC Thunderbolt on launch date.

Man, well i would take your word if you talked on three different occassions lol, Didn't mean to get anyones hopes up.

Can anyone confirm a $35 activation fee?

Well just because 3 people told me that doesn't mean they are right...wouldn't be the first time. We'll just have to wait and see!

Concerning the activation fee - my understanding is VZW retail stores and BB retail will charge the $35 activation. Wirefly is supplying a credit for it, so while you do get charged the $35 on the first month's bill, it is credited back on the 3rd month's bill.

Hey Funky have you ever ordered online? Seems like i've ordered my old EnV Touch online and the internet didn't charge me for the activation fee, i used my old NE2 on it like july 09 or something it was almost a $200 phone and after my NE2, no activation and instant rebate for online it was like $60 total.

Are there any MAJOR differences between buying online and at store??

Well, to start with, you don't get the phone right away.
