Verizon announces HTC Thunderbolt with March 17th release date

Just sharing what I was told. My understanding was always that it would ship with the 32gig... It wouldn't be the first time a Best Buy employee was ridiculously wrong on this subject.

Wow I just got on the BB chat client and asked why it wasn't up there, and the girl left without saying a word.

Then I try to ask again, and I get told theres no representative available.

I'm still about 6 months away from my NE2, bummer. Had the D1 for this long, can maybe wait a little longer for the prices to drop some.

There is no NE2 anymore. Verizon stopped that program back in January.
The only upgrade option you will have now is promotional pricing on a new phone when your current contract expires.

Wrong. If your contract was started before Jan 16, 2011 you will have ONE early upgrade or NE2. No more after it is used. If your contract started after that date there never was an NE2 program as far as you're concerned.

i called corporate to see if it was possible to get the thunderbolt on a new line for the 2 year price and then switch my current number over to the thunderbolt... i got a yes. then i asked if i could get the new number transferred to my incredible and then get the lowest plan possible (no data or texting on it) and got a yes.

I'm confused. Unless you paid full retail how did you get out of your contract?
My understanding is that any smartphone MUST have a data package to go with it?

I should add, because it happened to me, that Verizon will be jerks about giving an early upgrade if you try to use your 14 day buyback window, so choose carefully. It can be done, but you have to REALLY love talking to different customer service agents.

Well, we're both kind of right. You are correct that if you had a NE2 credit on your account before 1/16/11 you could keep it BUT...................Verizon also said that all NE2s left would expire 6 months from when you were eligible for them. Not 6 months from 1/16/11.

I was eligible for a NE2 on 8/15/10. Since there were no phones that interested me I figured I would just sit on it till something came out that I wanted. I called Verizon CS 3 times to ask when and if my credit expired. The first rep told me it would expire on 6/15/11. I wanted to confirm that date and called another rep. She told me it would expire 7/15/11. The 3rd rep told me it would never expire.
Realizing that I could not get a straight answer from CS went to my local store looking for answers. I just happened to go there just after the iPhone launch and there was a regional VP there. I talked to him about my frustrations getting a simple question answered and he went right to a computer to look up my account. He explained how the NE2s were expiring 6 months from WHEN THE CUSTOMER WAS ELIGIBLE FOR IT. Since I was eligible back in August he told me I only had 6 more days before it expired.

So, anyone that is currently eligible needs to know that your 6 month clock is ticking.

i called today bc one of my family phones has a credit on it and mine said it had 6 more months to get the credit even though i could upgrade today.. i call and ask and he told me that i actually had credit at this moment and not to pay attention to the 6 more months left.. and the other phone did not have a credit on it , it just had a upgrade credit. no bonus. sooo idkkk i didnt argue with him bc im happy to have an additional credit on my account since. we will find out what happens in 6 months when the count down on my account says 0 months left haha.

I guess every person that gets asked the question has a different answer. Hell, I got 4 different answers. The VP told me he was VERY sure of his answer so I believed him.
The whole thing really didn't make a difference to me since there were no phone I liked out at the time and my wife needed a new one I just transferred the NE2 to her line and I'll use her promotional pricing upgrade for mine when the time comes.

My only suggestion is to make sure you verify what you've been told because everyone has a different answer and I'd hate to see anyone lose the credit because Verizon can't answer a simple question.
