Have any of you played with an iphone or ipad? I think they're beautiful and android really needs to step up in the UI and graphics departments to stand a chance. We all know that android preforms better when it comes to productivity, but then again we care about what our phone can do. Android now needs to work on being "pretty" like the iphone is. Seriously my D1 is ugly, this thing is a brick that doesn't look very good. I hear that google has hired someone to work on the UI, let's just hope they're good. Now motorola needs to nab some industrial designers and we'll be in business. Till that happens I'm probably going to ditch my droid for a much better iphone.

Apple needs to work on letting users replace parts easily, rather than having them take it to the Apple Store or whatnot every time something is wrong. I'd never get an iPhone purely based on the fact that I can't stand not being able to open something up with minimal effort. I have played with iPhones and iPads and I own an iPod Touch, but none of them will ever deter me from owning a droid.

Yes you are right all apple users are mindless zombies who are numb to the world. But you as an Android user are just so super tech savvy and you have all the right answers to everything. We should all bow before you in awe and amazement. We should deliver you fruit baskets and flower bouquets because clearly you carry all knowledge. I don't mind a good apple joke here and there but sometimes it goes too far. You realize you make yourself out to be a million times worse than the fanboys when you say stuff like that. I guess I will never understand the hatred. Oh well sorry for my little rant. These apple threads can never remain civil.
It was sarcasm... I think you took it too literally, at least my post about the sheep.
I try to take it as sarcasm but these threads always seem to go in the same direction and it just gets under my skin for some reason. Not much really does get under my skin but this topic for some reason gets to me every time. I can't tell who is being serious and who isn't sometimes, well obviously because I don't have my internet sarcasm plug-in installed on my macbook (I hear those only come with windows based machines)
I can see your point of not knowing who's serious and who's joking....

btw the sarcasm plug at the end is contradictory to your point :)

No the Macbook only comes with the dry humor plug-in. The Windows machines ONLY come with the anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-malware plugins. On the other hand if you ran a Linux box you could choose whatever plug-in you want! :)

I can do the same thing with my wifi iPad and my wireless tether. Just another way for Verizon to capitalize on the market. I do hope to see a CDMA iPhone though. I think a little competition is good.

iOS

Really? Again with the Android is better than iOS. People are either lying or misinformed if you think Android does not have con's. Both iOS and Android have pro's and con's. Yeah, I do think iOS is more polished looking than Android. I have learned to live with my Droid X (3 of them)not responding as well as my iPhone's touchscreen. My Droid X is not locking up ALL the time but more than the iPhone's. (This 3rd one does work better than the older 2 though)
I don't know if it's the developers or Android or both but I know plenty of applications that work/look great on iOS and are at times below average or worse on Android. Say what you want about Apple but you can't deny Apple being the one, not Android that has no carriers Bloatware in it. Not saying I use everything Apple installs but it sure as hell beats having that plus all the carriers BS. Let alone my Droid X having Motorola on it, Verizon on it TWICE and google also on it. Apple well, it just has APPLE. I wish more high end smart phones did this.
Anyways I am not going to continue listing cons (no need to list my cons for Apple because most here already know/acknowledge it). Competition is only going to help us consumers get better and cheaper products. I like both and know both have good things going for them. dancedroid:iphone:

Competition is good but Apple doesn't foster competition it squashes it through meritless patent suits, threats and FUD. Apple has gone the way of Microsoft. They would rather litigate than innovate.

Can't argue that point too much but wouldn't you agree a lot of these big businesses do the same thing? Every week it seems one of the companies is suing (insert name here) or...and so on. Unfortunately it is the way of big business. I think Android came about in the right way but it, like all big business, will fall to the corporate crud it needs to, to sell units.

In the end it is to each his or her own. The rants and fact spewing will go on until the end of time simply because everyone has different preferences for various reasons. This is an Android forum; of course there's going to be a lot of Apple smack talk. Go on the Apple forums, I know I have and they do the same thing in regards to Android.

You can't please 'em all, and Verizon knows this, so instead they decided to make the red and blue corner a part of the same crimson ring. "Duke it out all you want fellas; we're getting paid either way!"

Agreed. I heard some ridiculous commits by Apple fanatics. But both Android and Apple have them. Some people just are too extreme. Bashing another company, product and sometimes the person because they like a certain device is sad. Both companies are bringing great features to us.

The part that is flat out wrong (will not argue as all companies seem to be in court for something) is Apple not innovating. Apple didn't invent the music player but what device comes close to iPod's sales.
Google wants in on the phone business. I'm glad iPhone was/is a success. Did Apple follow the Android tablets coming out? No. But with million of APPLE IPAD's being sold a lot of companies are jumping on the bandwagon. Apple TV didn't follow Google TV.
iTunes has without a doubt been a huge success. Im glad. Google wants in on that too. Blah, blah, blah.
Im not saying Apple is the "BEST". Like was already said, to each there own. But Apple has done and has nice things...Just like google/Android devices.

I dont know if this has been covered, But have you guys heard about the data plan that is going to come with the Ipad?

1 gig for 20 bucks a month. Talking about bending you over. I use on average 3-5 now

MSNBC just did a story on the iPad coming out on 10/28, and they mentioned in the same story that they are working on a version of the iPhone to come out in January. I'm hearing this in the background on my television.

Verizon Service

One of the great things to me about Android and Verizon (Sprint too) is how besides all this nice features google brings to us (free at that) is Verizon's stance on certain features. It may not be a big deal to the "common" user but AT&T does not allow you to download applications outside the Android Market. What is a bigger deal is Verizon gives you the option to use certain Android devices as a MOBILE HOTSPOT and AT&T does not. This feature is a big one for me. What's worse about AT&T is although they say they don't allow downloads outside the Android Market "to protect the consumer and have accountability for applications" is they LIMIT what you see in the Market. All the AT&T Android devices I compared to Droid X has exactly the same thing EXCEPT TETHERING applications (not sure what else they limit). When I mentioned this online to AT&T reps they said "we do that to protect consumer AND our network". I don't agree with this but at least they were honest.
This is why I will never buy a Android device with AT&T. I know each carrier has con's and Verizon does things I don't like but it brings better options and tools you can use with Android. Maybe they will bring better options for the iPhone too.
I forgot. It's something isn't it that as the iPhone nears Verizon is changing something big. Next year sometime (Verizon did not commit to a date) Verizon is working to bring voice AND data together. Most of us know CDMA does not allow both to work together now (work around is turn wifi on if you can) but it looks like soon GSM (AT&T, TMobile) will have one less thing to taut CDMA users.

To this day I cannot for the life of me understand people like that. Why would anyone turn down a device that has MORE potential for one that has less. Even if they were to never use said potential the fact that it remains available to them if they so choose to is still there. Instead they opt for the lesser, read iPhone, in order to gain some type of social status or because its' prettier.

Your dogmatism never ceases to frustrate the crap out of me! Sometimes you make perfectly rational statements... and then sometimes you turn around and make statements that are clearly influenced by some sort of underlying pseudo-impression that anything Apple is equivalent to a pedophile, and Android is equivalent to the second coming of Christ. (yes, I know you've met Steve Jobs, and he was a pompous jerk, and all that...)

If you have a problem with "people like that", then you must walk around with a problem with most of the world's population. Why? Because most people have priorities in their lives, and smartphones/cellphones do not fall within those priorities. Therefore, most people will "settle" (as you see it) on issues that do not fall within their priorities. Do some people get the iPhone simply as a status symbol? Sure. Just as much as the Android fanboys dig Android just because it "bucks the trend" of the iPhone. It's a ridiculous argument. As my wife always says... "who the heck cares? It's a phone for goodness sake..."

Sarcasm aside, I'm with OneTenderRebel - I hate the dogmatic, irrational B.S. spewed by both Android and Apple fanboys alike, and I absolutely hate seeing blanket generalizations that place categories on people based on the type of smartphone they buy.
