Verizon IS rolling out official Gingerbread to Droid X's....but there's a catch

Look....there is one question that you have to ask to figure if this is real or not....how would a fake....FAKE....or leak....make OTA? OTA is PUSHED no? Meaning VZW or MOTO is pushing this to your device.

From what I understand you don't have to grab this manually....if you just wait after you SBF to .340 you will get it. (me personally.....if it was for the D2 I would be grabbing it) but I am 2 things....impatient...and addicted to flashing.

I mean someone correct me if I am wrong....but how is this OTA if not real?

I know that contradicts what i just told you guys but its true..... i call bs that, that last pic is of the gb we are talking about in this thread.

I also swear that what i am telling you from my call with vzw is true.

I don't think you can call p3's stuff not legit, it might be his dev phone. I for one hope they do have a root done or almost done, it makes life easy for all of us.

OH....I am not saying that what he is claiming isn't legit....I am just saying that third picture in the last link that was posted was a pic of battery life indicating 2 days and this dropped at 7am today. That pic isn't of this GB....the rest I am sure are.

They could be just testing OTA updating on the latest build and sent it to the wrong device. Anybody heard about anyone else getting an update via OTA?

Can anyone tell me why I'm getting this message:

I have a file named update that is the gingerbread file on my sd card. What do I need to do?

I got it now. Honestly, the .zip thing is ridiculous. The file should be named update.zip in its entirety. It is a zip file so leave the .zip extension on there, and before it should be "update". Got everything working now though.

Gingerbread ota

Well I did the .340 update file (non sbf) from liberty to get the ota gingerbread and kept going to settings about phone system updates and it keeps saying my phone is up to date. I let it sit over night and still no update. Any ideas? Also what are the tire track looking icons in gingerbread?

OTA updates are random, not on demand. If there is one out there, you'll get it when your time comes. All you can do is prepare to accept it.

If you have your PC set to show extensions, you would see the .zip

I can't really say I want gb even official till they confirm it can be rooted bc rooted is the only way to go period. Will be kickin it with liberty till then.

How do different versions effect devs work? I know Fab has been working on Apex for GB, so I assume he was using the leaked version. If the final version is a little different does that mean he or any other devs working on a theme, rom...mean they have to start over?
