VIPERBOY - I am sorry if this has been asked but this thread is huge. I live in western ny and all day my internet has not been working. I'm in 3g coverage and i have a few bars. My home page is google and it will always load that page. However if I go anywhere else it will start loading it 10% and then freeze at that point. Is this something with the phone or the network? I am using the stock browser

This may not be the answer, but it's worked for me a few times:

While the browser is open, hit the menu key.

Hit Windows.

Close any that you aren't using.

Usually unfreezes the browser for me.

I called verizon and they said dial
*228
option 2

What does this do

It has your phone search for other towers in your area and adds them to your phone.

Viperboy: I've searched on this issue high and low, here and everywhere, but I've come up completely dry. As a last resort, maybe you know of a work-around or not....

I very much want to sign-up and get the Droid. Since I am deaf, the vibration notification option is of critical importance. And getting repeat notifications is doubly-important when the Droid's vibration registers less seismic activity than an ant's sneeze.

Sadly, the "Missed Call" app does not cover email notifications. Nor can I find anyone mentioning an alternate email app that has its own built-in notification function to allow for repeat vibration notifications. An alternate email app wouldn't address Gmail and I wouldn't want to totally give up push email by having to do all email through an alternate email app.

I have to admit being rather baffled that a cutting edge smartphone platform such as Android appears to lack the ability to do such a pre-school task as repeat email notifications (that also works with vibration mode). Grabbing a smartphone out of a holster over and over and over again to check for messages is oh-so-snail-mail ... like sitting in the window watching for the mail carrier to deliver the day's mail.

If I sign-up for the Droid right now, without a workable way to be alerted & reminded about incoming email, I'd be cursing it within the week. And ready to turn it into a thousand pieces before the end of the 30-day return period.

So, before I totally eliminate the Droid from my shopping list (and all Android devices be default), I'm making a last-gasp shout for help on this issue ... before going under water for the third time. Thx for any insights you can offer.

I think this app called Missed Call may be exactly what you need. I have not used it but it says it can completely customize the notifications including repeat. There's a review of it here.

Cvhovey, also check out check out Screenbl Lite by Dadical. When used in conjunction with the Droid Accessibility feature Kickback, the phone gives a short vibrate pulse every few seconds while the screen is active. You might find it useful.

The other night I bought the car dock, and a cassette tape thing so I could listen to slacker radio and do hands free calls in my truck.

While everything is hooked up, it works perfect. I can hear slacker and calls just fine though my speakers, and callers can hear my voice just fine. The problem comes afterwords.

When I unhook everything and exit my vehicle, if I get a call (the ringtone does come on) I cannot hear callers through the normal speaker. If I put the phone on speaker phone, I can hear them just fine...but if I take it back off I can no longer hear them.

A simple power off/power on seems to make it go back to normal, but is there anything that causes this? Is my unit defective?

Quick question, viperboy, hopefully you can help (as you have done so well thus far). I am an ex-Alltel customer, still on an Alltel plan (it is a lot cheaper). Currently, I am getting PRL 40059 to my Droid, is there a way to get the fully up to date VZW PRLs (*228 is still giving me this one, which I assume is a hybrid), or just wait until the full integration is complete?

hi all...just wanted to ask about these two power saving options....

"Enable always on mobile" = OFF: where is this, and what does this do exactly?

"Background Data Usage" = OFF : does this mean gmail sync will cease? are there specific default apps that will not function by turning this off? and what about sports apps that update scores?

thx all,,,,this is the best thread ever.

why does my phone randomly delete ALL my texts? i have it set to not delete any... but everytime it gets near ~2000 texts, they all delete.

SD Card Music

I deleted all music from my SD Card and attempted to sync with DoubleTwist. For some reason DoubleTwist thinks my card is full even though all music has been deleted from the card. Anyone have any idea how to solve this problem? Thanks

Try rebooting the phone, if that doesn't work.. pull the battery and the SD card while your in there, then replace and boot up.. for some reason it sounds like its reading the old table of contents rather than the new.

Maybe if you can just get it to reinitialize the card to read it fresh again it will be good.
This sounds like an issue with double twist more than the Droid itself.

Hello,
My Verizon store in Fairview Hts. Illinois will have Droid training the first Tues of the month, so I'll pick up a lot of info there. This is my first smartphone, so I've got a lot to learn.

My first problem is that I have shaking hands that brings up an unwanted contact or starts a phone call while scrolling. Can I lower the sensitivity of my touch screen?

Thank you,

Don

Hey Viperboy, I had a Droid till someone stole my phone and that was my baby, I am really upset and hope there is a way to track the phone. Is there any ways to tract the phone with any of the barcode numbers or any kind of number through Verizon or Motorola? I do have Verizon, thanks for your help in advance.

Did you report this to VZW? If so it's blacklisted and can't have service...
Insurance? or Wavesecure or Defense Shield?

Text Messages

Viperboy - Is there any way to turn off text messaging? I don't want to receive spam messages as I have to pay for each text (no plan).

How about the ability to increase the font size in email???? The font in my work email is too small, my Blackberry was much easier to read even with a screen less than half the size.
