One question and one problem to ask you about ViperBoy. Question -- you've often referred to removing the battery, presumably to reset the phone. Is this different than powering off and back on again?

Now my problem -- I have three IMAP email accounts. Two are set to check/update every 5 min., the other every 30 min. For some reason, typically at least once or twice a day, they just stop getting new email. If I power off and restart, the emails that have arrived will then be retrieved and show as new. I know emails have come because I have a copy of all my emails sent to my gmail account, and if I open the gmail application I'll see that there are new emails, but if I go to the IMAP accounts, they are not there. And if I selected "Refresh" nothing happens. The only way I've found to get the imap email accounts working again is to power off and restart the Droid.

Thoughts? What could be causing this? Is there an easier way to get the imap accounts working again besides a power off/on cycle?

Thanks in advance...

Hi Viperboy,

First of all, I would just like to say thanks for helping us out while your job may be in jeopardy.

Second of all, I have a question to ask you. I recently dropped my Droid in water. I just got my insurance replacement tonight and whenever I get a text messeage the notifcation noise plays twice (Once for the messaging app and once for handecent SMS). Do you know how to get this only to play once?

Thanks!

go into the native messaging app and remove the default settings and let handcent be the messenger

settings----->applications--->manage applications---->go to menu at the bottom... pick "filters"... pick "all",----> scroll down to messaging--->hit "clear defaults".

That should release it so it doesn't respond which will allow handcent to be the primary.

This is a HUGE problem for me seing as how I bought the phone to use a good browser. Well, prior to the update, my browser ran great, now its a flaming pile of dog poop(sorry but its a hell of a lot slower with scrolling and the lags terrible).

So much that I hardly use my browser anymore due to the scrolling lag the browsers having.

Has there been any updates on this?

puzzling... I get no browser lag at all and the "dolphin browser" has really gotten great.... very smooth and good pinch zooming.

Puzzling? Majority of the ppl who have droids are experiencing horrible choppiness when scrolling on their browser... Infact, Ive yet to hear somebody who ISNT lagging/choppy when scrolling
No probs here either with 2.0.1

So your telling me that when your on a web page and you scroll up or down, its not choppy by any means more since the update? I find that hard to believe since after 95% of the ppl Ive spoken to and heard from find its choppier since the update. Unless your phones just a freak of nature

It may be a matter of seeking out those with those complaints..I thought just the opposite.
If you go to where its discussed and look at the different names of those involved I've never noticed it to be a large number.

When you consider the number of droids out now, I'm thinking its the minority.

I may have to video mine in action... its perfectly smooth with both the stock browser and the dolphin browser.

Even on web pages that are graphic intense? I really find this hard to believe, especially after going through 2 droids... But hey, I may just have bad luck with the 2 Ive had

The only time I have seen the browser be choppy is if you are scrolling hard before the page is entirely loaded. IN that case it will continue jumping back up. And I just use the native browser, and 2.0.1.

Disable notification alert in default messenger. That will solve the problem
I had that too when I started using SMS pop-up.

Aps & Stuff

Hi Guys...proud owner of DROID here, from Brooklyn. so far very happy i resisted the Iphone craze..... couple of questions....

  • An ap for organizing/displaying pics and video? (better than the standard "Gallery" wich sux)
  • Is Astrid pretty much the coolest, easiest task organizer out there? i just want to type the task, be ale to choose the day and time i want a reminder, and have it sync to my calendar for notifications....
  • Any place to buy extra battery for Droid as a backup and can u get a battery charger for it? (cameras have this, so u can charge one battery while u r using the other one onteh phone)
  • Whats teh deal with Home ++. i hear good and bad stuff on this....i d like 5-7 screens and cool weather/clock widget, but is is worth downloading? if so, where can i get it?
  • IS there a word/excel/pp ap for the phone?

Don't know if you'll be able to answer this but... I hooked up my Droid to my bluetooth in my car and last night I used the turn by turn navigation to get to a friends house. I was not receiving the directions via sound only could see them on the map. I am thinking it has to do with my phone being connected to my bluetooth in my car. Anyone else have this issue? Any resolution?

I tried switching my input to my phone on my car to see if it then would tell me when to turn and still nothing.

Thanks for your time!

VIPERBOY - I am sorry if this has been asked but this thread is huge. I live in western ny and all day my internet has not been working. I'm in 3g coverage and i have a few bars. My home page is google and it will always load that page. However if I go anywhere else it will start loading it 10% and then freeze at that point. Is this something with the phone or the network? I am using the stock browser

This may not be the answer, but it's worked for me a few times:

While the browser is open, hit the menu key.

Hit Windows.

Close any that you aren't using.

Usually unfreezes the browser for me.
