Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Gets Lollipop Rollout Starting Today

Idk. I just disabled the usual suspects. There were a couple of apps that if added that I was able to completely uninstall. Some coupon app and a dumb looking game...

When I activated advanced calling on mine after the update, it took me to My Verizon right on the phone to enable it on my account.

Good to know. That wasn't the case on the S5. Glad to hear they're making it a little easier for people to enable.

I haven't enabled Advanced Calling on my phone yet due to the problems it's had cooperating with Google Voice. I had several problems with that when I had the S5. I don't know if those issues have been resolved yet or not. I need to figure that out before I turn it on.

I've noticed with mine without doing the FDR I don't have any added bloat and the few I disabled when I first got the phone are still disabled

I didn't do a FDR yet either, but I had the same coupon app and game added that Johnny Kansas mentioned that can be completely uninstalled. Do you not have those?

Just went through and verified no additional apps installed. Do you guys have the DT ignite disabled?

I do have it disabled.

That's odd that you don't have them though. I think those apps are baked into the update. Everyone who takes the update should get them whether they want them or not. If they are linked to DT Ignite, then it's odd that I got them. Strange.

With the Lollipop update, the Note 4 is Advanced Calling capable. What you read on another site is probably from before this update started rolling out. Likewise, the Verizon site just hasn't been updated to reflect that the update added Advanced Calling for the Note 4.

As for the quality, when I had Advanced Calling on my S5, it was fantastic. Keep in mind that not every call is going to be HD voice since not everyone has an VoLTE capable device. But it's labled 1.0 for a reason. It's not perfect at this point.

Also, if you want to use Advanced Calling, make sure it's enabled in your My Verizon account online as well. Click on the red "Get Advanced Calling 1.0" button on this information page and sign in to add it.
My Verizon says it is activated. However, it is greyed out on my Note 4. The Advanced Calling is turned on. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not sure. I won't be enabling Advanced Calling anytime soon due to issues with Google Voice (which I rely heavily on). Hopefully others who are using it can chime in with their experience.

AnTuTu benchmark on my Note 4 with 5.0.1 Lollipop.

Glad to hear all the positive lollipop reviews from my Note 4 brothers & sisters! Aside from a much smoother bug free experience, compared to other make/models, it seems (at least for now....knock on wood) the wait was worth it. [emoji3] Very nice indeed!

As for "Advanced Calling", both my wife & I disabled ours after a few days. The call quality was "different" that's for sure.....much more clear yes, but in a way, too clear if that makes sense, because it accentuated every other sound as well (kind of hard to describe to those who haven't experienced it, you really have to hear it for yourself to understand) but we both found turning it off resulted in a much more enjoyable voice interaction between ourselves & other VoLTE enabled callers.
On top of the fact that it also uses significantly more battery, even after it settles in.
Of course these were our results from the S5, so YMWV on the Note 4. Enjoy the lollipops guys! [emoji517]

Yep, it looks like your post. However, it doesn't sound all that great. Thanks.
Are you talking to people who also have Advanced Calling active on their phones? If not, you're not going to hear much of a difference (if any at all).
