I am not a bad guy and dont want people thinking that. Its just an opinion I have. I am not all for stealing services (now i have downloaded music and movies, who Hasnt?) but to go this fart is beyond me. thats all.

Ok so what if I am paying for the Unlimited Data & Their Mobile Hotspot "tethering" app, can I use ALL the data I want? Cuz hey i am paying for it. I currently their service and am at 30GB this month, so technically I can use 100GB more if I want.

No, their tethering option is 20/month for 2 GB. If you go over, you need to pay the overage charges.

well damn that sucks :icon_eek:

Yup. I pay $50/month for MiFi because I need it for work. Basically comes out to about $10/GB.

No, because their highest plan is 10GB/month for $80. If you go over that you have to pay extra

I feel for you man. You have an opinion like I do and because it is not in agreement with Verizon you are labeled a bad person. I have fought this for a while now and the end result is always the same.

C'mon...They make too much money so we're entitled to steal services they overcharge for. Who can't see the logic in that argument?

1. Who said they make "too much money"? And who determines how much is too much? and why should anyone determine that?
That's their right to make as much money as they want. We have that right too.

2. "we're entitled to steal services". No we're not. We're not "entitled" to steal anything. No one wants anything stolen from them. Verizon doesn't, I don't, no one does. No one is "entitled to steal".

its interesting, i use easytether (dont bother, im not gonna argue or listen to crap) and lately when im on my computer it will sometimes show download arrow on the phone and will not let up....then the computer stops accessing the internet....
if i toggle airplane that fixes it; happens more and more lately....kinda neat. wonder what they are up to....lol....

use about 4-7 g a month, so i doubt im in that top 5 deal....
nevermind, whatever it is is doing it while i stream pandora also....beats me....

I would be glad to pay for tethering if i could do so in an as needed basis - not $20 and a month at a time. An option for hourly or daily use would be nice (say, $2/hr) since i wouldn't get $20 worth of use in the average month (I've only tethered 2x in the year + I've had the phone).

Wtf this topic is still at the top of the list people can get dsl for 14.99 a month stop being cheap asses.

Yep, everyone wants something for free. And it's comical watching the reactions when something that was never technically free is taken away.

But also a good number in this thread just want a reasonable low-tier tether option, a few hundred megs or so and not have to pay $20. I suppose you can pro-rate, but that's a nuisance and I think many would just like to see an option to add 250-500megs of tether for $5 a month.

Well I just signed up for att lol I am not worried about tethering any more. 5.00 cheaper than mobile hotspot

Does anybody have an AndroidCentral account? I don't yet, and I came across and interesting thread there: FYI: Verizon, by law is not allowed to block tethering on 4G devices - Android Forums

The 2008 auction at which Verizon bought their LTE spectrum requires compliance with open network protocol--see [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

See [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

The terms of this include:
Specifically, a C Block licensee may not block, degrade, or interfere with the ability of end users to download and utilize applications of their choosing on the licensee's C Block network, subject to reasonable network management. We anticipate that wireless service providers will address this requirement by developing reasonable standards, including through participation in standards setting organizations, as discussed below.

In addition, C Block licensees cannot exclude applications or devices solely on the basis that such applications or devices would unreasonably increase bandwidth demands. We anticipate that demand can be adequately managed through feasible facility improvements or technology-neutral capacity pricing that does not discriminate against subscribers using third-party devices or applications.

The problem is, since I have no account, I can't click on the links to read the entirety of them and dissect through all of the terms and jargon. I DO know that (at least according to anandtech), Verizon does indeed have a nationwide C-block spectrum, but they also have additional B and A spectrum as well.

Nonetheless, it is interesting to see this, and I would like to read more if anybody wouldn't mind re-posting the links here.
