Thursday.

Thurday? As in they're flipping the switches on the 4G towers this Thursday in Virginia Beach and it hasn't been announced?

Yes.

But if not this Thursday, next Thursday.
And if not next Thursday, it will be the next one.
But it will be on a Thursday.

I have a Droid 2, and am paying monthly insurance to Asurion on it. I can't afford the data package anymore, and am wanting to downgrade to a dumbphone, but keep my Droid for use on WiFi.

Will I be able to continue to pay for the insurance on the Droid 2, and have it replaced if it was lost, stolen or broken, even though I don't have Verizon service on it anymore?

I apologize if this has been asked before, but the thread is over a thousand posts long.

My account consists of a primary line (mine) and two family lines (my wife, and my mother-in-law). Now when it comes time to renew my contract, I want to either A) Switch to a 1-year contract so I can be eligible for an upgrade every 10 months or B) Switch to another company if Verizon doesn't have a phone I want by then.

If I change the primary from 2-years to 1-year, what happens to the family lines? Do I have to wait til everyone is eligible for an upgrade, or is it possible to have a 1-year on the primary and keep the 2-years on the family lines?

If I cancel the primary line entirely and move to another carrier, what happens to the family lines? Do I have to pay an ETF for each of them, or can I keep them on Verizon? What happens to pricing?

Thanks.

Each line has its own separate contract. So, you can make the primary line a 1 year so it can upgrade sooner and keep the other 2 lines on 2 year contracts.

Why would you want to cancel the primary and go to another carrier, what sort of phone are you wanting???

If you do that, though, you can just cancel the primary and leave the other 2 lines. You will have to designate one of the remaining lines as the new primary. You'll end up saving 9.99 a month, plus whatever features you have on your line, so probably another 29.99 for data feature and if you have anything else you won't be paying for that either.

Thanks for the reply!

I want a Google Experience phone that gets fast updates. No Blur, no Sense, no Touchwiz. Verizon doesn't have anything like that, but TMobile has the Nexus line. If Verizon got a dev phone, I would get it in a heartbeat.

ok, so it's not an economically sound idea then. I'd have to switch the whole plan over to avoid paying two primary lines.

A follow-up question. When can I switch to a one-year plan without being charged? I have an annual upgrade saved up. Can I do it now, or I have to wait until my NE2, or even until my contract expires?

I have a question: How frequently is Verizon data usage update?
I just installed "My Verizon" app in my xoom to check data usage. I noticed that there is an "Important note" – usage data reflected in My Verizon Mobile is not updated in real-time. Usage data reflects latest available information since last bill.
I am wondering how frequently is the data usage updated. I googled it. Some said 8 hours, others said 24 hours or even 72 hours, which answer is correct? Thank you!

It should say when the last update was on the screen.

Hello there. Hopefully you can answer a quick question regarding the annual upgrade policy...does the customer have to be with Verizon the whole contract term, or can the upgrade still work if the contract was initiated under Alltel? Thanks.

I have a question that if it was answered somewhere in the 100+ pages of this thread, I apologize.

Actually 2 parts:

1. Looking at Wirefly, renewing through them there is a $10 higher difference in the contract price per month from what we pay Verizon now. That would be how Wirefly subsidizes selling the phones so cheap, correct?

2. Right now the Droid X is free for the primary line on the account and $50 for a secondary line. For us the secondary line is eligible for the upgrade. At verizonwireless.com the upgrade can be transferred to the primary line but it seems that would only work if renewing directly through Verizon. Or would it? I tried doing the transfer, stopped short of completing it at verizonwireless and then went back to Wirefly to start the process there, then went back to verizonwireless and it never actually transferred the upgrade to the primary line.

Even so, if over the 24 months we pay $10 more each month I'm basically paying $240 for the phone.

I'm just trying to understand what Wirefly and Amazon are doing because when you dissect their deals, they don't seem very good at all.
