VZW Rep/General Account Questions only.

Question regarding 3G to 4G:

If you currently have unlimited 3g data and a 3g phone, do you have to actually "enable" some kind of 4g when you get a new 4g device. Or, at this time is it all just "data"?

I spoke to a verizon store rep and he said that it's all just "data" right now; and that as long as I have a grandfathered 3G unlimited plan I wont have to give it up to go to a 4G device later on. The fact that the data is an addon vs a "plan" per say suggests this as well. Signing a new contract isn't an issue, just losing the grandfathered 3G plan is the question.

Along with that, if so (if so being that you lose the unlimited 3g/4g), then would simply adding a or family plan to the account be a way to circumvent this later on?

Basically, Im looking to get the Bionic later on. Im going to be adding a line later on to get the discount for the Bionic then transferring the Bionic to my phone and giving my mom the Droid X. She has no use for 4G or unlimited but Im wanting to retain the unlimited 3G and future 4G on my current number.

right now those that have unlimited data on smartphones keep it even if they are in a 4g area, there is NO 4g smartphone plan. You get grandfathered into unlimited right now
 
How is Verizon looking at people with rooted/ROM'd phones and people who refuse the Gingerbread update? I don't want the OTA update anyway. If I refused (since I basically am because I am on a custom ROM), does that look weird on the account or anything?

this is the second night in a row I have lost my data connection and ability to send and recieve text messages. Is there something going on with verizon or do have some strange virus on my phone?
 
one big mess!

ok so my upgrade is coming up and went to a vzw store to play with some phones. asked the rep to check about my upgrade for the exact date i can upgrade. it was way off!
my contract is up in august, but upgrade date is not until feb. of next year!
so i asked the rep to check because that just doesnt make any sense.
well the story is that the acount holder retired from government job and lost discount, so the whole account was switched to the other government employee to continue the discount. and now instead of being able to upgrade on regular date it has been pushed back to coincide with the "new contract"
how can i fix this? the rep i spoke to on the phone said i was right that it didnt make any sense that my contract was up but still couldnt upgrade. but that he couldnt do anything. talked to his supervisor and explained again whole situation, and again was told there was nothing to do. i really dont want to go through all the hassle of ending the contract just to start another one to get an upgrade, but i also dont want to pay full price on another phone. if it was just one line to upgrade maybe, but all four other lines want another phone and their contract ends same as mine. ending contract means we all loose our phone numbers, i know vzw can forword the calls for awhile but man what a hassle:icon_evil:
please help!

Hold your ground and those are your numbers now. You can take them to another carrier if you arent happy, just do it before contract expires. You have 4 lines and good leverage imo. Ask for what you think is fair and be willing to go elsewhere if you dont get it.

So you look at peoples accounts and don't see the "4G Unlimited data" for 4G smartphones?

Interesting since I see it all day at work. Maybe I need glasses.

Hello, I have a Samsung 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot SCH-LC11 in the mail. Since Verizon has approved service for me and I've purchased the hardware already, is there a place on Verizon's website that I can go ahead and log in to get started? Also, by any chance does anyone know of the steps that are needed to activate the device?

Vzw is being very resistant about an upgrade! After being a good customer for over 5 years, never a late payment not much hassle and being able to prove "actual" upgrade, vzw still says no!
I found the first and last bill from last upgrade before acount transfer and took that into corporate vzw store and still nothing!

When was this line last used as an upgrade? Was it 20 months ago?
It sounds like it wasn't.
It sounds like an assumption of liability was done, and you were only 5 months into your contract, so you had 19 months left. Well, when you do an AOL, if you have more than 12 months left on the contract it just defaults to a 12 month contract, but your upgrade dates stay the same. So, it's possible that your contract could be up in August, but your upgrade date is a little further out.

In your situation, it would sound like the last upgrade was done in June, 2010. Then you did an Assumption of Liability in August. So your contract is up in August, but your upgrade still isn't until February, 2012.

Check the exact date you actually did an upgrade. If it was actually 20 months ago, call customer service, they will be able to check that and get it corrected.
 
Finally got a tech support person to fix it my upgrade can be in september, hopefully not before a 4g price plan comes out.
The person said I could upgrade now but not to a 4g phone, I asked about the x2 but the price seems to high for not having 4g!

So what was the deal in the first place? Was I right in my assumption? When was your last upgrade done?
 
The deal was I think vzw just put the upgrade at 12months after the aol, just a small mistake of a 5 months but took a few calls and a visit to store to get fixed! Now I just have to wait it out and hope 4g pricing plan doesn't start before I can upgrade!
