WaveSecure

Big ups for the Wavesecure Support Team. Not only did they reset my pin they apologized for taking a couple of days to respond to my problem. This for a free service. Thanks for your help Deepak!

Hi BostonBill,
On behalf of our WaveSecure support team, I'd like to thank you for the compliments.

We're currently testing a new build of WaveSecure that routes text messages via U.S. gateways so U.S. folks in the will not need to pay for international text messages. If you or anyone is keen to help us test, please send me a private message.

Thanks,
cheewee

Cheewee - this was my biggest issue with WaveSecure - the fact I have 8 international text messages from installing and testing this application. Other than that, it works great. Once it's domestic text messages, I will sing your praises for this app. and I will fully support it.

Ken Adair from Mobile Defense tried to hijack your thread and convinced me I should try his app last week. He's been nothing short of a fraud and I have big problems now. I just posted a link here: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-applications/10434-beware-mobile-defense.html.

At least you stand by your product and don't bail on people after self-serving promotions on the WaveSecure site.

I've been a big fan of Wavesecure since it came to the android market. I exchanged a few emails with them about some issues, such as the notification that used to pop up on a restart of the phone. In a matter of a few days the new update no longer had a notification. Can't ask for much more than that, anything this program does or doesn't do at this point seems to be an android limitation, not a Wavesecure limitation. As far as international texts, it would be nice to have them routed through the US but in the event I lose, or have my phone stolen, 20 cents is nothing compared to being able to lockdown, or wipe my phone.

I understand the concept and it's a great idea. BUT, how does this work with the Droid on the verizon network? I didn't think they had SIM cards? When I boot up the program it tells me "Your buddies will be alerted by SMS when your phone is stolen and a new SIM is inserted." How does this app with a sim-less phone?

I hate to drag an issue from the very beginning of this thread, but it seems to not have been addressed, and I'd love the WaveSecure people on here to talk about it.

But what does pulling a SIM card do for the Droid which doesn't have a SIM card?

I mean it might be a moot point because if one were to reprogram the phone, it'd most probably just reprogram the phone with my number until I tell Verizon otherwise. But still, idle curiosity I guess?

Hi DeltaLead,
Thanks for the interest in WaveSecure. For CDMA phones such as the Sprint Hero or Droid, there isn't any SIM tracking.

However, all other features will still function. The product still protects your data and privacy as lets you lock your device or wipe your data in the event of theft. Plus, it tracks your location and saves a copy of your data for backup purposes.

Hope that explanation helps.

Thanks,

Track location has never worked on my phone, and when I try to back up I get, "Your data could not be backed up. Please try again in some time." so I kind of gave up on this app.

Wondering if it has to do with Handcent SMS.

EDIT: A second attempt to backup succeeded.

handcent sms has caused me to lose ALL of my texts.....twice. deleted.

also, can I backup my MMS and SMS using wavesecure?

You realize that your complaining based on your test. In a real situation you'd want it screaming non stop.

So this app is charging for international text messages? Also, I tried the lock down thing from the website and the "Lock and Alarm" function works, but the screaming is pretty obnoxious. Personally, I think it should scream intermittently, and not nonstop. Just my 2 cents.

Hi infiniteillusions,
Just so we're on the same page, we're not charging for international text messages. In fact, we pay to send SMS commands to provide this service. :)

That said, you will be glad to know that we'll be implementing our US SMS gateway by the end of this year.

Yeah. We know it's going to be Christmas soon and people will be away and all. Still, we always try our best to provide a more robust and reliable product for Android users to enjoy. Hopefully, this will no longer be an issue for US folks. :)

Hi folks,
Good news! We've made some tweaks and there should be no more international text messages charges for WaveSecure users in the US.

We want to thank Berzerker, slammed, biteme, oondogg97, QuPop, BostonBill, DeltaLead and many others who helped with the testing. You guys rock! :)

Let us know how it works for everyone else.

Thanks,

Fantastic! I am glad to see both companies posting on here listening to users as well.

I installed WaveSecure on my Droid and I'm having the problem where the remote lock doesn't lock the phone until it's rebooted. Does anyone know how to fix that?
