WaveSecure

Understand, and that makes sense, but it should be made clearer to everyone going forward the ramifications if you don't set and use the secondary Command Pin when sending text commands.

I still think some thought into a way to "scramble" or mask the Pin # as it is recieved would be a better solution. You guys are obviously very good a what you do, I know the brian trust at Wave Secure can come up with a more secure solution!

Hi 928Droid,
We've posted it on our blog.

Actually, WaveSecure is already able to intercept text messages for Windows Mobile and Symbian platforms so this isn't a problem. For Android, it is currently not possible to implement. Hence, the need to introduce this until the platform allows us to do so.

Thanks,

Cheewee,
Can you please confirm that WaveSecure no longer sends international txt messages? I read on another forum that this problem was addressed by WaveSecure. This seems like a show-stopper for many potential customers - like me!

I am unsure as to how I would lock my phone via another phone.

can some one write a quick simple "HOW TO" on doing this. I have seen "" and <> used in this thread and I am not sure if I actually need to use "" and <> when sending an SMS to lock my phone.

Lol that is what I picked for my sms code
Hah

Once I get your cell number I am gonna send you a text, "Secure WIPE 123456"

Ha, Ha, JUST KIDDING!!
is that even possible?

<===== runs and changes SMS code ASAP....

Yes, it is one of the Text Commands available.

But someone has to have your cell # and Command Pin #, if they have those and know the commands they can Wipe, Lock, or Locate your phone via Text messaging.

according to my verizon.com usage I have NOT been charged any international SMS messages and I have been sent about 8 thus far

Good to know.
Thanks Jason!
if they are international they do not display as such when looking up my activity. I have not receive a bill yet so I can't be 100%, But I would think IF it did come from an international SMS it would be displayed as such on the website.

Thanks again Jason!

It would be great to get confirmation from the WaveSecure folks that post here. So far I have two customers that say they haven't seen a charge yet, lots of customers that are *****ing like crazy over the charges, and no official word from the company. Should it be this difficult to find out for sure???

Cheewee,

Have you switched to US texts for the US users yet? I know it is not really that big of a deal I just remember you saying that was in the works or being considered.

BTW, what exactly is "SMS command PIN" ? Sounds familiar, but it is not registering in my memory banks :-)

Hi 928Droid,
There should be no international text charges for WaveSecure users in the US now.

To answer your question on SMS command PIN, aside from using a computer to send commands to your phone remotely, you can use any other cell phone to do so.

For example, to lock your phone, send a message with "Secure lock <PIN>" to the current phone.

Now, we've added an option for you to use another PIN in addition to the PIN used to access the application.

For more information on securing your phone remotely, refer to the help by choosing Menu, Help from within the WaveSecure application.

Hope that helps.

Thanks,

He confirmed that when I asked him a few pages back in this thread.

I tried out the lock with alarm and that got my kids running into my den to see what the racket was about. I would hate to be carrying that phone when that goes off on a lockdown. I could have fun with my wife's phone since I will be setting her account up soon. :icon_ devil:
