Overall I like the UI and the screen size is a plus coming from my D1. I am sad to say I must be one of the unfortunate individuals that might not be able to tolerate a pentile screen. In the store with the brightness jacked all of the way up its a pretty good display with decent color saturation and awesome blacks. At dimmer settings the display starts to look like trash in my opinion. The whites turn greyish tan and there appears to be a lot of "noise" in the display. My D1 looks better than this at the dimmest settings. Maybe there is something wrong with my display, or AMOLED is not for me? The more I use it the less I notice this, but its still annoying.

I'm the same way. I think it looks great, but find my eyes getting tired b/c it's just not real bright. If I'm in a dark room, or darker (like our living room with just a lamp and Xmas tree on), it looks fine. But put me in my office or a well lit room, and it wears on me after awhile - it's a relief to look away, or look at my Bionic or regular computer screen.

If I jack the brightness up manually, it helps, but I don't like NOT using auto brightness. There's no white subpixel, so it'll never look as bright as the Bionic (which is also pentile, but it's RGBW not RGBG), or 4/4S or whatever. It's basically the same screen as the Razr with a higher resolution.

Yup, I had the same experience when playing with it at the store. Certainly the best pentile screen to date, but still falls short of the OG droid imo, and the Rezound screen trumps it comprehensively. I was uber impressed by the Rezound screen when I played with it today. Wish all the other manufacturers started including similar screens instead of cheaping out and moving towards inferior pentile displays.

i'll 2nd this or 4th or whatever... at max brightness the screen is nice but it gets progressively worse as the brightness goes down. This seems to be a AMOLED/Pentile display thing, as the rezound using SLCD doesn't suffer the same fate.

I came from a rezound and the screen is IMO hands down the best overall screen on a phone to date, although it is terribly hard to see in sunlight even when turned all the way up, but that is the only real issue i can find with that screen type.

Don't know if you use Google Search or not, but if you go into apps and just disable Google Search, the search bar disappears from all your screens. That's what I did because I simply do not use the bar and have no need for Google Search when I can just use the browser.

It's a good idea but free's up no extra screen space...

I gotta differ from some of the reviews.

My speaker is plenty loud. As loud as the Bionic. No problem.

I had the screen at 100% and had to turn it down to about 50%. The colors are amazingly vivid and the whites are brilliant. As far as I'm concerned it's 1000% better than the Bionic or Nexus. I prefer it over the Rezound.

I don't like the google bars at the top - they need to allow that space to be usable.

Overall I think this is the best phone I've seen or used bar none.

That's odd about ur volume cause I can't even begin to compare it to my og, as far as volume goes the og blows it out of the water in stock form.

Amazing phone, I love it way more than the RAZR. I noticed one problem though while trying to play Shodowgun. If the upper left corner of the screen is touched the lower left side seems to loose input.

Can somebody please check this, go to settings-developer options - and check pointer location. Now keep one finger on the top left corner of the screen and move the other one in the lower left corner area, where the back button is. Does it register the input at all times for you?
