What have YOU done with Tasker?

stays on with 1st scan and won't turn off, when I go into wireless settings it just says scanning....

Its starting to sound like it is only your phone that has this issue... The last three things we have tried have worked on mine but not on yours. And Bodean is not having any more issues either. I hate to say it Tallica but I don't know if I can fix it.

Thanks for all the help Nebula, I really don't know what the issue is but I'll keep messing with it. Very strange

I'll continue to help but I am out of ideas.

If you always leave your home area when you leave your house, it might be easier to just put in a wifi off command at the exit of your wifi on profile and remove the connected and wifi off profiles.

I don't always, that's the issue. When I leave my house but stay in my home area the wifi comes back on after the wifi off profile does it's thing, and will not shut off, unless manually turned off, then it works normally (screen on, scan, nothing to connect to, shuts down).

Do you ever use Airplane mode?

I barely ever use it, and not ever for this

ok disable your home profile and remove the variable value context from your wifi on profile. Then add a cell near context to the wifi on profile and scan around your house. Add an exit task to turn wifi off

Disable connected and wifi off too

Ensure your wifi on is enabled and see if that works for you. It will have the same battery savings but is obviously less complicated.

I recently was inspired while looking at my too bright screen in bed to check the time. I set up a profile to speak the time when the screen on button is pressed during night hours if the phone is plugged in. Works awesome.

Ok everything seems to be working now Nebula, just like the wiki except a couple of alterations you gave me. Thanks for all the help.

Hey nebula, is there a way to have tasker auto sms a busy text when I get a call while the headphones are plugged in? I got it to auto text when receiving an sms simply by buying the addon for sms, but there isn't one for phone calls. I have an auto responder app, but it will only open the app, not activate the functions. Is it possible to do this within tasker?

Okay, so I have made it so when I plug it a headset to the phone and I'm listening to music and receive an sms, tasker sets media volume to zero, (so that the read sms can be heard) auto reads my texts, then sets the media volume back to full volume. The problem is that once this happens and I unplug my headset later on, the media volume on my phone is very quiet. Even at full volume. Somehow tasker is limiting my phone volume and I have to reboot to get my external volume back to normal. Any idea why this is happening?

I don't think tasker is limiting your volume. Get Audiomanager from the market. It will allow you to quickly check all your volumes and adjust them. That should tell you what the issue is.

I tried that. Audiomanager shows media volume at max, but the external volume plays very quiet. I have to reboot to get it back to normal. This is only after I receive a text. In other words:,

1) Normal volume, then activate tasker.
2) Still normal volume. Plug in headphones which activates my task to mute media, voice read sms and then put media volume back to max after 10 seconds.
3) media volume returns to max volume after receiving a text, but...
4) once headphones are unplugged the external speaker is VERY quiet even though all volume settings are at max.

Any ideas?

Yes it is possible to do what you want. I'll write it up in the next few days.

The other thing sounds like a glitch. Try to recreate it without tasker.

Tallica that's great let me know if you have more issues

Much appreciated Nebula, can't wait to see how it's done! Looking forward to this feature.

Do you want to have a list of available texts to send or just have it auto send a default message?

If you want to try and figure it out yourself you can look here
Auto respond to phone call - Tasker Wiki

I wrote that and its what I am going to modify but I also wrote an auto replier that pops up a menu and lets you choose to answer, ignore or text back. Then if you select text back it give a list of prewritten texts to send. I can also modify that one to give you a preselected list of texts instead of just one and I might be able to do something that would let you speak what you want to text to someone.

Let me know what you want to do.
