What have YOU done with Tasker?

No dice on that one too. the wifi off comes on and shuts everything down then the home and wifi on come back on then a munute later the wifi off comes back on but the home and wifi on stay on!!

I am thinking of completely rewriting the profiles. Sorry it took so long to get back to you, its been a busy weekend. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Okay, so I have made it so when I plug it a headset to the phone and I'm listening to music and receive an sms, tasker sets media volume to zero, (so that the read sms can be heard) auto reads my texts, then sets the media volume back to full volume. The problem is that once this happens and I unplug my headset later on, the media volume on my phone is very quiet. Even at full volume. Somehow tasker is limiting my phone volume and I have to reboot to get my external volume back to normal. Any idea why this is happening?

I don't think tasker is limiting your volume. Get Audiomanager from the market. It will allow you to quickly check all your volumes and adjust them. That should tell you what the issue is.

Thanks Nebula, No problem. Just thinking, is there a way to make one profile turn off another one? If so can't we make the wifi on profile turn off when the connected profile exits, and then not come on again until it's wifi near again?

Thats a good idea and yes we can. I will look into that before I rewrite everything.

So here is what I am looking to do:

At certain days/times, I want tasker to change my default home screen app from/to ADW/LauncherPro. Is there any way to accomplish this?

No I don't think this is possible. You can have it switch over at a certain time but it will not become default.

However you could set up an alternate home button to either long press of search or your camera button.

Ok newest updates to try

To your connected profile add this to the enter task
"+" - Tasker - Profile Status - Press the magnifiying glass - Choose your wifi near profile - Off - Done - Done

Your wifi off profile enter task should be cleared then enter this
"+" - Tasker - Wait Until - 1 minute - %WIFIC matches 0 - Done
"+" - Net - Wifi - Done
"+" - Tasker - Wait - 5 minutes - Done
"+" - Tasker - Profile Status - Press the magnifying glass - Choose your wifi near profile - On - Done
"+" - Tasker - Profile Status - Press the magnifying glass - Choose your wifi off profile - Off - Done - Done

Give that a whirl and let me know.

OK, by those 2 highlighted parts I assume you mean to pick my wifi on profile (which has the wifi near context in it)?

If that is true, I made the changes and this is what happened, btw I killed my router to simulate leaving the wifi near range thus disconnecting from my network.

When I killed the router obviously the connected profile deactivated and the wifi off profile kicked in and shut off my wifi :), the home and wifi on profiles stayed active with the wifi off profile for 5 minutes, then the wifi off and wifi on profiles deactivated, the home profile stayed on (obviously 'cause I was still within cell near range) but my wifi turned back on and stayed on, (it would not shut off after scanning and not connecting) even though the wifi on profile was not active anymore....close but not quite :)

Edit: After I turned my router back on my phone reconnected to my network but i just realized that only the home and connected profiles are now active, as my wifi on profile is now disabled (red circle with slash through it in the tasker app).

For the highlighted part question, yes that is exactly what I meant.

Try it out one more time and see what happens.

So I tested again, and...same result. All is well until the wifi off profile goes through it's 5 min process and deactivates leaving just the home profile active, when this happens the wifi turns back on to scan but will not turn off after not seeing my network. Ugggh.

Man this is a pain, thanks for all your continued help Nebula!

In your preferences under monitor change your wifi scan seconds to 25 and your wifi minimum timeout to 10 seconds. And try it again. You should see it toggle faster this way, maybe were just missing it. Also don't trust your power widget to be accurate, I've noticed mine hanging up a lot. If you are using a rom with a toggle in the notification area, that seems to be more accurate.

Made these changes, killed the router...same result all works good unitl the 5 min are up and the wifi off profile disables itself leaving the home profile on, wifi turns back on and won't turn off until I leave my "home" range.

If you enter your home area are you able to see it turn wifi off and on when it scans? Or does it just stay on once you enter and start your first scan?

stays on with 1st scan and won't turn off, when I go into wireless settings it just says scanning....
