What's Causing the delay of the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon?

Sad thing is if Motorola added NFC and google wallet Verizon probably wouldnt give a *hoot and would release the phone.

I work at Best Buy and we got the mock GNex in and I would ASSUME we got a shipment of GNex's waitin to be sold. I held the mock in my hand and I was pleasantly surprised by the dimensions. It wasn't thick at all (that's what she said) and it didn't feel too big. I was actually thinking about waiting til something else better peeks on the horizon but after feeling "it" in my hands, I'm going to wait patiently.

I guess I do not understand why Google Wallet would hold anything back, I am assuming Verizon could just lock it, but yet still sell the phone?
My guess is that the sale did not go on because of the Nation wide LTE outage that was still going on for the day prior to the sale. What a nightmare it would be if you sell a great phone but you could not use it! Thats my guess!

That's disappointing if that is what is holding it back. I am ok with it being held back if improvements/fixes are bring implemented but not something silly like a dispute over Google wallet.

I agree with you. But if they are indee arguing about this, then I'm on Google's side. Not because of NFC but because this is Google's device. The Nexus line is known for STOCK Android and Verizon is trying to make it to their likings.

I think this will be the last Nexus phone released on Verizon if Google and Big Red really are going at it like this...call it a hunch.

Well I was in the mall a few hours ago and decided to stop by the local radio shack. Manager allowed me to hold the nexus in my hand, he said they still don't have a release date and that they were told to hold all of the phones in a secure area in the stock room. He was very highly pissed, I can't believe they are gonna force these companies to sit on these devices for days or weeks without any info just bad form Verizon.

Well it's about damn time Google stands up for something.

Verizon, AT&T, and sure Sprint are bending over backwards for Apple, and letting them run everything with the iPhone. Hell I'm sure they have zero say in anything when it comes to the iPhone. It's about time Google started acting like Apple.

Its amazing what the fruit company is able to get through carriers without any problems or pushbacks. You dont see VZ Navigator/Vcast on any of the idevices.

I could understand before as Google was trying to push their product but now in all honesty they dont need to the Droid/Android name is out there so why keep giving into the carriers

^this...What would Verizon be without Android? Man up Google!!

That's the thing. There is a big difference between what Apple and Google can do. Verizon has seen what trying to control an apple device will do. Apple will just leave. When Apple leaves so does the iPhone. Which is a big seller for the carriers. To be truthful Apple has shown they don't need multiple carriers to sell the iPhone. So you know they won't hesitate to cut out an uncooperative carrier.

Verizon knows that they can do what they want to google, because Google can't take Android away from them. Even without the Nexus Verizon would still have Motorola, HTC, Samsung, etc. to fall back on. The prior are all used to how Verizon acts since they've been working with them for a long time.
