I heard an add on the radio last night that said they were going to have the thunderbolt at the grand opening of a best buy mobile store for 100 just at that location. I'm about to drive out there and ***** till I get a rain check. Wish me luck. Well not sure if it was 100 but I know it wasn't 250.

It isn’t every day that all the pieces fall in place to virtually single-handidly save a company from shuttering its doors, but this is exactly what happened when Motorola brought the Android operating system to Verizon Wireless. Just a little more than a year later Motorola has been riding a huge wave of success thanks to their Android smartphones appearing across all carriers, but with 28 percent of their business getting done through Verizon a reliance on the network is still obvious. In a Bloomberg report, Motorola admitted in the report that the company would need to be cautious in their dependence on Verizon going forward in light of slowing sales anticipating and coinciding with the release of the iPhone for the big red network.

The obvious first attempt at bringing high-ticket smartphones to other carriers (something normally reserved for Verizon’s bands) is the Motorola Atrix 4G for AT&T, the dual-core smartphone capable of transforming more or less into a fully functional laptop. In days past we might have expected to see this handset as a Verizon exclusive, and though VZW will get a phone similar in power, the Droid Bionic will still fall slightly short of the Atrix in terms of specs and hardware.

It might be stating the obvious, but the need to spread out their goods among carriers is an issue the company will need to tackle this year and moving forward. Motorola hasn’t taken the same approach as companies like Samsung, which aim to provide the same high-end smartphone experience to users on all carriers. Perhaps Moto will move in this direction as well, but only time will tell.

Yes, Apple is the closed company that 50% of current Android users are planning to switch over to.
Really? Photos or it didn't happen. If they are switching over to Apple is it because up to now they didn't want the crappy AT&T coverage and can now get real coverage on Verizon. It may be anecdotal but 2 out of the three Apple IPhone users I know are looking at switching to a Droid phone when they can. They basically say there is no longer a compelling reason to stay with Apple.

I don't understand why this is hard to believe? I guarantee you most people were just slogging along with their Android in hopes that the iPhone would eventually make its way to Verizon. As for getting new subscribers, this is the best way for Verizon to entice potential new customers from AT&T and, especially, T-Mobile/Sprint.

54% of Verizon Android/BlackBerry Users Switching to iPhone

While most people are waiting for their contracts to end or, at least, for the iPhone 5 - you will see a lot of people moving from BlackBerry and Android to iPhone.

I get that it doesn't make sense and it's stupid - but the vast majority of people want an iPhone. Specs, power, data, speeds, capability, how closes or open a device is, hacking, rooting, tethering - none of these things matter to the vast majority of people who just want the iPhone because it's heavily advertised and most of their friends have one. It's a status symbol as much as it is a phone, and for the average joe, it's Verizon's ticket to success.

Androids are for enthusiasts and geeks. We're a minority. I think I compared the iPhone to Justin Bieber in the closed thread - yeah, he sucks. We know it. It doesn't make sense. But that doesn't make him any less popular.

I agree there are those who will be switching to the iPhone from Android/Blackberry, but one study of 700 people hardly tells an accurate number.

I thought the number was around 23% that VZW saw switch, which is still a lot, but no where near 50%.

There's more than one survey - results vary from 44% and up - but that doesn't make it any less accurate. Give it a Google.

You, me, people we know - probably into Android. But get out there in the general public, and you'll find a lot of smartphone apathy - it's either iPhone, or nothing.

I have noticed a trend on these speculated release dates first it was feb 14 as soon as 14 came around some random site like bgr or some vzw envoice pops up and they say 21 then the 21 came around the corner the 24 now we are here oh march 1 and the march 4 the truth is noone knows when it is coming out but I know this about me I can wait for the first week n march but mid and late march I don't think I will be getting it because then a better 4g phone will be out. Ppl can say oh well more tbs for the rest of us well that may be all well and good there is always some better coming out I realize that but I'm pretty sure more phones will be out beg aril and so forth..

Now im hearing Verizon employees got an email saying mid-March Idk how factual this is it'll be great if someone can confirm.

It's clear that any speculation on the release date of this phone is nothing but a wild (and wildly inaccurate) guess. No one can or will know when this phone will launch until Verizon makes and announcement.

(And I hate it when people end sentences with this word - it's smug and annoying - but I'm going to do it this time to add emphasis and show how strongly I feel)

Period.
