When Will the ThunderBolt Be Available for Purchase

I'm not so sure the speculation about people preferring Apple over Android is that far off topic - after all, it sort of explains the reason Verizon isn't so eager to release this device. It's just not a game changer for them - it won't bring them new subscribers like the iPhone will and I'm guessing demand for it is quite low.

I really do think that HTC and Motorola will start shifting their Android attention to AT&T...

I think you are right that we will be seeing better Android phones from Moto & HTC on AT&T. That fact alone will somewhat equalized iOS vs Android and put them on more even footing as far both having nice devices on both carriers.

how can the thunderbolt be released on the 28th? that's a monday... i thought new phones became available on thursdays. since the phone didn't come out today it's clearly going to be in march... the question is when in march.

Although Verizon typically releases phones on a Thursday, I don't think there's any hard and fast rule or procedure - that said, they won't release anything without at least some notice. At least a week or two, so Monday is pretty much not going to happen.

March 3 is - but I'm putting it back another week or two from that.

They're saying the delay is do to Verizon not properly preparing the 4g network so mid-march it is.No exact date so that can go back even farther which can also delay the Bionic smh Vzw really disappointed me now they're behind with the "4g" mess

I haven't heard this myself, but it definitely makes sense.

ok, i'm following you now, but i got that the rep was saying he could get the replacement phone and be able to return in within 14 days... kinda hinting that he thought the TB would be available within those 14 days.
I think we could leave it at the OP being extremely vague? Haha.

But I'm getting extremely frustrated with Verizon right now. They're not giving us anything with regard to their first 4g phone.

There isn't any 'real' info from VZW and it can be frustrating... but at the same time, can you imagine the disaster it would be for their first 4G device to roll out with issues because of apps that were advertised (Skype) or the LTE network itself?

As much backlash as they may be getting now, it would be ten fold if they released this device and it wasn't ready. It would tarnish VZW's 4G.... IMO, it's worth it for them to tarnish the name of 1 device (or at least create some anger for it not being released) rather than letting the whole LTE network crash and burn.

I realize this, but they should have thought about that before taking a device that was originally supposed to be 3g and converting it into a 4g device. At this point I feel like it was a pretty awful decision. There were no 'big' 3g devices being released by Verizon during the winter, and I think HTC could have made a lot of money off of the 'HTC Incredible HD' at that point in time. I mean, I won't be getting 4g until my 2 year contract expires anyways, if even then. I feel like the Bionic would have been a much better lead off phone into the 4g network, and wouldn't look as outdated to the public at that point, with its dualcore fanciness.

Does Best Buy know that March 4 is a Friday?

Just further proof that they have no idea what they're talking about - ever.

I guess you could always stop by and pickup a $120 HDMI cable.

New to droids and want the TB. If I went and got the HTC Inc to mess with do you think the TB will come out by my 14 day return period

I was kind of wondering the same thing, but don't you get charged a repackaging fee for doing this type of thing?

Edit: Also, I'm assuming it's a bad idea to do this because we have no idea when it'll be out... meaning you could get stuck with the Incredible.

will accessories (shell/holster combo... high gloss silicone case... car charger... spare battery... extended battery) be available at launch as well?
The whole monday release thing is just speculation, and is going to be a let down as usual. I would assume they'll release it some Thursday in March. Whether it's the 3rd or the 31st, your guess is as good as mine. With no word from Verizon, it's looking to be mid/later March.

As for accessories, since the phone has been delayed, and from what I've heard from VZW/BB stores, the accessories were getting shipped without any phone in stock. I would think it'd be safe to assume that the accessories will all be in place by then (although extended battery wasn't until early April, from what I saw)

where did you see the extended battery? was it on the verizon website?

Yeah I would be careful with the whole getting something to hold you over.. I go that choice right now with my D1 sitting on an upgrade, but with the many "confirmed" dates that have passed and still nothing from Verizon I wouldn't want to take the chance of locking in a 2 year on something else or 14 days from now paying a restocking fee and still have no phone..
