so i am trying to make a few edits to the app, but none of my changes seem to be taking, anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Im using apk manager 4.9
i decompile the vending.apk
make my changes to the xml and images
recompile (no errors)
then i put it in an update.zip and install via clockwork

but when i load the market back up, none of my changes are there? even the old icon which i changed is still there?

What did you do wrong? I'm having the same problem.....I must be missing something obvious. Sorry if its a dumb question

and I made a couple new friends today! Xkape has been such a gentlemen!

mik3.. so you are editing the images when the apk is decompiled? Not saying its wrong, ive just never done that before. I have also never had your problem before so I am just taking a stab at it here.

I tried flashing both and all that happened was my market vanished. I dld from my phone then used SPR to flash. Ideas?

Actually both....never had a problem with png's when just using 7zip, but I tried changing genie widgets font color (xml) started having this problem. So I tried doing just png's while decompiled still no dice.

I was forgetting to sign the apk after compiling it. at first when i realized i forgot to sign it i didnt think it would matter since its a system app, but it didnt work until i did

Tsip85, these are update.zips, they have to be installed with Clockwork....

Try using this update.zip pack for your DInc... just unzip this, place your vending.apk into the system/app folder, rezip (preferrably as archive)... then flash with recovery of your choice...

i was surprised that i needed to sign it to get it to work, cuz i didnt think i needed to for system apps. what process do you do to edit the market app?

All of you themers SO ROCK!!!! Every one of the inverted market apks in the OP is beautiful and I appreciate you all so much. Can't tell you how happy I am to have my inverted market back (I've been using an inverted market version for a long time and I was afraid that with thebowers out of the game (well, sort of -- thanks for the how to and all the invaluable advice!!)) we wouldn't get an inverted version of the new Market.
