Who is waiting for the OTA ICS??

You shouldn't need your computer... Download the zip to your sd card directly from your phone, boot into fast boot by holding power and volume down, and just select the update after selecting flash update from zip. It's pretty simple.

Easy, yes, if you have a computer you trust to run it on. Which he's stated he didn't. So, yea, probably best to wait for the OTA in that case sadly.

Lol. It's still too bad you don't have a computer so you could come out and play on ics. We haven't seen a new leak in almost a week now so they must be getting closer to a final build. If I had to guess I'd say the first week of august is just about right. So hang in there.

I had posted the other day that I was going to wait, but reading all of the posts about how wonderful ICS is, I thought would give it a shot. I rooted my Eris before, so how hard could it be, right? LOL.! It took me forever to get everything the way it was supposed to be (drivers, Motofail etc) and after that nothing I did was right so I gave up.
The following night I tried again, and had no difficulty rooting the phone. I realized that I still wanted to wait for OTA ICS. I installed bloat Freezer and froze some useless apps (after doing research as to what is safe to remove).. My phone is terrific, so I'll continue to wait for ICS. My question (finally) is.....after I unfreeze the frozen apps, will I be able to install the OTA update of ICS even though my phone is rooted?

I also posted earlier in this thread that i was gonna wait but i got impulsive and downloaded 232 last night and installed it.

Its light years better than 905, which i guess is gb? Anyways the only thing that really sucks is that i cant play flash video as it causes any browser im on to crash. Also the music player will force close sometimes.

So aside from those everything else seems to be good.

Perhaps there'll be an update in ICS that'll do some tweaking. However, unless .232 is the final release, you won't get it. However if what you installed is fine for you (except for Flash) then no worries. And you can go back to .905 (which is GB, like you thought) and do the OTA if you need to.

So are these leaks basically just half assed versions of what the official ics is supposed be?

I presume that the official release will probably be better in the sense that theyll have all the bugs worked out by then? Because i guess i could live without flash video but i just hate the fact that it feels like i dont have the whole package being that every os supports flash.

They are not half assed..they are 100% from verizon.

They aren't from vzw. The leaks are versions of the builds being tested by moto to see if they're stable enough to give to vzw for their testing. So moto creates these builds, their internal testers test them to find bugs, and when they feel it's ready for a soak test they'll work with vzw on it. This is why it's possible that 232 could end up being the ota release. If we don't see any more builds leaked for another week or so, it's very likely that 232 will get a soak test with a rollout starting the first or second week of august.
