Who is waiting for the OTA ICS??

Of course, instead of demanding a bugfix patch for ICS, those very same folks are now telling Moto to hurry up and get a Jellybean build going. I honestly don't think many people can comprehend how many lines of code Android is comprised of. Although customers were demanding a rush on things, in the end it tarnished alot of user's views of ICS. I've actually found myself telling people in the RAZR forum to wait for the bugfixed version because going by the experience on my Bionic running .232; it really IS a decent OS.

I've been using ics on my Xoom (unlocked and custom built rom, btw) since January. It's awesome when the bugs are worked out. And with the Xoom having an unlock able bootloader, guess what... It's not bricked and hasn't blown up vzw's network. ;) people, including myself, need to relax and learn to wait until things are ready unless they want to "beta test" it with the expectation that it ain't ready for prime time. The razr release would have been a fine beta... But clearly not ready for prime time yet. The bionic leak so far... Amazing.

Yes, I remember your ordeal. Like I said, the ONLY folks I have an issue with are those who committ blatant warranty fraud. I always say "be prepared to pay, if you are gonna play". People like us are prepared to pay, so we should be able to play - unrestricted.

Amen to all of that!

Yeah, follow instructions to the T...and you'll be all good!
I remember my very first flash (Rubix) on my DROID X about a month after I got it. Missed the wipe data part and bootlooped. Scared the living hell out of me. After scouring some forums (probably this one) I got it fixed.
With a little research...anything is fixable with Android. The dev community here is second to none.

That's the thing that kills me. People claim their device is "bricked" and try to get a replacement from Verizon at no cost - when all they really needed to do was follow 2 paragraphs of clear instructions on how to fix the issue. Or like in the case of the RAZR, they install a leak which CLEARLY states "this will take you off the update path, with no way to get back on" - yet they install it, then try to fastboot back to GB and "brick" it. Then they want to know why their device won't even boot.

Agreed. My experience with unlocked bootloaders is from my days with the D1. I miss being able to build my own kernels, for example. I did so many things to that poor phone, and it was always easy to fix anything I did screw up (like the time I compiled a 2.0.1 kernel with a 2.0 ramdisk) - was simply a case of flashing a correct kernel, and it booted right back up.

In my humble opinion, the locked bootloader makes the device easier to damage, not harder. To me, it seems to be a blatant move to sell replacement devices, because they KNOW it's human nature to mess with things.

Yea. People need to slow down and learn before doing. Especially with a locked bootloader. The price you pay for not learning is potentially having a device that is bricked or at least off the ota path until a new fxz is released. And one was just released for ICS razr. Hopefully the bionic will get one when ics is ota. Will make those jb leaks easier. Roflmao. ;)

Sadly true...

Yeah when instructions say things like "there is no going back"...i tend to believe them

Sadly, I don't think people read directions far enough to even see "there is no going back" - they simply look for a download link, click it, and go to town. And then generally start a thread to complain when things go wrong.

And with that, I am outta here for tonight - it's bedtime! Falling asleep at the PC is generally a sign that you've been at it too long!
