Why cant we get 4.4?

I knew the widgets would come, sort of widgets. What we have here and will for a long time, is iOS copying Android and vice verse, we all know this. What I dont get is my boss has a GS5 and that thing flies, and he has a TON of crapola on there.

Not sure about jumping ship till I see the new iPhone6, after its release in September, I will have roughly 5 months of reviews to make my decision. As far as this phone goes, its over and out when I can upgrade, it MUST be defective, there is no way they all are this slow and buggy, I mean the specs are decent enough to make the phone run somewhat smooth, thank god I have the Internet everywhere I go so I dont have to count on a phone. At work, I have a triple monitor PC, at home 2 PCs, a laptop, 3 iPads, iPod Touch.

Widgets are cool and all, but Ive seen many of posts that say widgets slow the phone down (obviously because in a way most are consistently running) so I dont care much for them, to each his own right?

So Pere, we will see. I am really to the point of not coming on here much. What phone will you be upgrading to you think?

My early favorite is the MotoX-2 or whatever that will be called. I think Moto may go back to SD cards since Google isn't pulling their chains anymore. But I like that phone so much I could consider ditching my SD card for one. Maybe...
It depends on how big, though. I am not a fan of these HUGE phones and early rumors have the new X being bigger.
I know 3 people that have X's and these things still fly even fully loaded with crap. The 4 or 6 processors or whatever Moto called it really help (and KitKat, of course). And I am in love with Touchless controls.

Another favorite is the Sony Z2 which may be coming to VZW soon I hear. Very little bloat, great specs, water PROOF, not resistant. I might go big to get that one.

I really think KitKat is the tipping point for Android phones to finally be as "silky smooth" as iPhones even on not so great hardware...

The SD card argument is kinda null. KK prevents access to the SD card anyway.

That's a primary feature. Writing or reading from the SD card is removed.

Ah, but items can be added, saved and moved to the SD card which is mostly what I care about. I do see your point though

It's a little different with 4.4.2.
Power phone Off
Hold Power & Vol Up/Down
Use Vol Down to Recovery
Hit Vol Up
At Android Triage No Command hold Vol Up & hit Power
Scroll down to Wipe Cache Partition
Hit Power
The cache will be cleared and the phone will automatically reboot.

kmf1 ... Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have a Droid Maxx coming from a RAZR. I've been trying to partition cache since I got this phone a month ago. I searched everywhere for instructions on my particular setup and all I could get was the same way I did it with the RAZR (which obviously didn't work). UNTIL YOUR POST! :) Followed your instructions and bam! 1 minute later all is well.

The only thing I don't like is that there isn't a progress bar while it's clearing the cache, but I'm taking your word for it that it is actually doing that. Change is good, right? :icon_rolleyes:

I used to do this weekly, but I see differing opinions in different forums about that. I can't remember exactly what issue I was having a year ago or so, but someone advised clearing the cache and it worked. So I've been doing it weekly since then (also advised by the same person).

What are your thoughts on this?

@RzrGrl...I don't know that it is necessary to do a Cache Partition clean once a week, but I usually do. I don't believe that it hurts anything to do so, so why not. Now that 4.4.2 is out for our phones, the process is more widely published, but it is the same for the Moto X. (That's how I figured out how to do it.) Thanks for your response.

I personally only wipe the cache when the phone begins to show signs of lag. On JB that was once a day. On KitKat I've only done it twice since taking the OTA. I also find that powering the phone off and back on daily helps.

thanks for the feedback guys. Now that I think of it, I was on JB when I had that issue and partitioning the cash worked. Even though I'm on KitKat now, might as well continue the tradition and run it weekly. I agree, doesn't hurt anything so why not. I also think rebooting daily is a good idea (same goes for my computer). Gotta keep my phone running "lean & clean".

thanks again...droid forums never lets me down :)

Well, I have to say that KK has given my RMHD sucko bat life. Won't even survive the night without being plugged in. Never had that issue on JB!
