Why is there lag with Android phones, and not the iphone?

Now I don't own an iphone, I own a droid. But what I tend to notice, is there is virtually no screen lag with the iphone, but on the android phones, there is always screen lag, no matter what the overclocking is. Any idea why?

It's pretty simple actually. In the following description insert iPhone where it says Apple and insert Android where it says PC. Same basic reasoning:

Meh...call me crazy, but I will gladly take the .001 - .003 seconds of lag I get on my Droid X once every couple of days just so I have the ability to make my phone My Phone, and not what Apple and Steve Jobs think my phone should look/act/perform like! Also, I like the idea that I can add a larger capacity battery if I choose to, as well as adding storage cap[acity without having to buy a new device.

My DX came out of the box with 8gb of internal phone storage that I can use(rooted) and 16gb of additional storage upgradeable to 32gb...giving me a maximum of 40gb of storage. I paid $100 for my DX brand spanking new..a new 32gb sd card can be had for under $50...so my total investment to get me to 40gb is $150.

Apple sells the 16gb iPhone for $199 and the 32gb for $299...and there is no way to add storage on either device. So, if you were to buy the 16gb version, you are only going to get to 32gb by buying a larger capacity device...for additional money...No Thanks...

You own an iPhone long enough it gets laggy and then it gets worse and worse as you can't clean up the cache or anything else you can't optimize ios like you can android. If you know what your doing then no android phone should give you lag issues.

false. i know what i'm doing. the "it's user error" crap doesn't fly when there's clear hardware/software fragmentation.

secondly, what about the people who don't know what they're doing and don't have a rooted phone? so they have to root in order to optimize and clear cache in order for the phone to perform correctly?

yes there is a slight lag when comparing any android phone to the iphone, because the ios has been optimized to the iphone, nothing we can do about it.

i have no other comments since this thread doesnt ask about dropped calls, steve jobs, storage, usb, ufo, hacking, tricycles, ninja motorcycles, dying while riding them, buying a new phone, etc.

My ipod touch second gen lags so badly. Like call of duty lag, not kidding. But I'm certain that's because of the evil iOS 4, because it worked quicky and efficiently with iOS 3

All Droids lag? Really? Thought it was just mine. My D1. Always figured since it was basically the first Droid model that it was because of that. Assumed it got better with the Incredible, the D2, the Fascinate.

It definitely gets better and I am sure it is something that is being improved upon with each new device released. But there is a smoothness to the iOS that is very noticeable after you use an Android phone. To be fair I have not seen or used a Thunderbolt yet so I can't say how that phone is. For me the smoothness is a nice touch but a tiny lag certainly very very low on my list of annoyances.

I still don't see the lag! Stock D2.

Yeah I have never owned an HTC but sense IMO is quite a bit smoother than stock android. Again just my opinion. I have nothing of substance to prove why, haha.
