Why is there lag with Android phones, and not the iphone?

Apple made a deal with Lucifer for no lag. Androids on the waiting list

By Lucifer do you mean Will Ferrell in the skit with Garth Brooks on SNL, YouTube it.

^same boat.

I don't know what would be a decent comparison to the stock iPhone launcher. It's pretty much an app drawer so it's not like it has much to keep up with. I'm sure if the stock android launcher was limited in design to a simple wall of apps would it would scroll just fine.

I've gotta agree..out of all the uis sense is definitely the smoothest...

I have a Droid 1 with the specs in my sig... Zero lag, no matter what.

I can honestly say the same
My phone transitions from screen to screen smooth as silk. My app drawer opens flawlessly, and scrolls (in 3d) the same. You can say I am full of it but fact is fact. Did I mention b4 how it screams thru web pages....
We all have our opinion android is not w/o its faults, but the iphones are not w/o there's. So it is all just a matter of opinion.

We have to define lag here as well though, to be fair. My phone does more of a drag than lag when going from screen to screen. Now if I am on an app that hogs a lot of resources and go back to my homescreen than Houston we have lag. But like others have said its not enough to make me want to punch a nun or throw my phone against a brick wall.

there just in denial.... for some reason they don't want to admit their android phones have lag when the iPhone does not.

Just nailed it. Homescreen lag is present on all Android phones at one point or another, lets face it, its doing more on the homescreen than the iPhone is. Loading apps or web pages is extremely fast. What I would like is for google to develop their own phone and cater the hardware to the software like Apple does. The Nexus One was a good start, but they could really hit one outta the park with a dual core, GPU optimized vanilla Android device.

So true. Every DX I've used has terrible screen lag, but every time you talk about it a DX user claims a flawless experience. The DX is the worst performing android phone I've seen and I rock a D1.

yeah i figured. it's a little hard to believe that i'm so unlucky that every time i touch an android phone i experience at least a little lag and that's exclusive to me...

Fanboys abound whenever anyone brings up an issue about a smartphone OS. It's been said many times before in this thread, and the simple truth is IOS was optimized for very specific hardware, while Android is very much hardware independent. Android CAN be optimized to run incredibly smooth, but by nature, it's more of a jack of all trades.
