Will you purchase the Motorola Droid X

The Droid X doesn't have a keyboard, and the Droid 2 has another OMAP3 chip, similar to the Droid's, only with a little die shrink. At 720MHz stock (or whatever it was), it'd need to be a good overclocker for me to even mildly consider... but, with A9 chips around the corner, the idea of trying to force a 45nm OMAP3 over 1.2GHz seems... silly. 1.2GHz being what my chip can run at with reduced voltage.

I'd bite for OMAP4, Tegra2... something with an ARM Osprey A9 core... but, a 45nm OMAP3 with unproven overclock potential? Nah.

While the pro sounds awesome, I don't usually use my phone for more than internet and some fun apps, so i am sure the droid X will be more than plenty. Not to mention i have never had a decent digital camera (excluding one that got stolen a month after i bought it lol) so I am eagerly awaiting release day, Got everything lined up for it!

I was waiting for the Droid 2..but not after I seen that it looks just like the regular Droid.
And putting on that chrome trim is no different then what they did to the Q series. Which made it looks cheap as hell.
IF there is a Droid coming with the rumored 2ghz and tegra chips etc etc then yeah i will get that phone.
Droid X IMO is looking good for me right now..
And since they are both MOTOROLA, it might be just a win/win situation.
I need to see the final products on both items before i make a choice.
But in terms of looks
DX looks helluva alot better then D2.
I already have the D2 frame. LOL....just not the internals.
:D
D1 + D2 + Eye Candy = :icon_ nono2:

I think you guys are overreacting to the supposed 2 ghz processor. Even if it does have the 2 ghz processor, it probably won't be too much faster than the 1 ghz in the Droid X / Droid 2. Might take 1/2 a second less to open your apps and whatnot, but I don't really see the point in getting a 2 ghz processor until there is a need for one (i.e. better games)

I completely agree, I have the original droid and I have mine overclocked to 1.1 ghz but even when i cut it in half I bearly notice the difference. 2ghz is a little bit of a stretch, I believe when Motorola said they would double speeds they meant 1.5ghz. I just cant see a need for 2ghz but then again you never know what we will be doing on these phones.

I will be getting the droid x because I do not use my keyboard at all right now

droid pro seems pretty nice, but couldnt you just overclock the 1gig snapdragon in the droid X/2 up to 2 gig? I cant imagine it would run much hotter than upping the moto droid's stock 550 up to 1.1. but like Titan Said, there isnt any real need for it unless they start developing much richer, fuller games, which would be awesome to see some emulators made for the droid and be able to play old SNES or SEGA games on it! DEV's any ideas?

Outlook integration.....via usb?

The fact that you cannot do something as simple and basic as sync outlook via USB......kills this phone for me!....It's just a toy........WAKE UP GOOGLE!

Don't bother replying with syncing via Gmail or the two lame "free" programs that charge 40bucks to enable after installation. None work without endless issues.

taking it back today.....see ya when you grow up Driod!

Uh...this post was in support of my NO answer on would I buy one

I owned a droid for a week now

It's android operating system’s lack of compatibility with a piece of software that 95% of business users utilize.... and any Smartphone that runs on non-android software does?

4yrs ago my LG envy2 would sync with outlook!..and it wasn't a Smartphone

Hmmm....yep toy....which I was very impressed with but for that one thing. I need my business reminders, task, contacts...my company won't allow me to put "it's" data on a cloud so using gmail is not an option. And I certainly don’t want to manually enter all that data with the touch screen into three different apps on the phone or have to double enter any new data…..one for outlook…….n……one for you Mr. Droid….

Also using gmail to connect outlook is only the appointments on calendar not tasks, notes, or contacts...and agian....not usb! Just google on the gmail outlook sync topic...nothing but trouble with that also. Tried it today and could only get 6 appointments for the month and I have at least two each day, several that repeat....seems to be a problem for gmail cal.

Took it back today..my Droid..I was really disappointed…..like having to give back a cute puppy..got my BBerry back..it's GPS sucks, lack of cool apps suck, but my appointments, contacts, and tasks are more important

I think any "Smartphone" owner that is considering an android based "not-so Smartphone" should be aware of the ONE little missing feature that a majority will expect.

Hope this clears things up…….OK

Again, cuz it doesnt do that one thing , its a toy....ok.

If you had searched the forums, its been said that if coming from a Blackberry, you might bea lil disappointed with a Droid, or Android.

But Android, Droid, etc is far from a toy.

If thats the case, using your logic, than a Blackberry is boring. Too serious.

See where I'm coming from?

Lets consider this too: someone that uses Gmail/Google primarily for their business, contacts, task, appointments, notes....Android isnt looking so much like a toy, is it?

I'm going to go with the droidpro
2GZ processor, 1GZ of ram, webcam, android 3.0 (gingerbread), 4.3-4.7 inch screen. Iphony 4 fanboys can go an huddle in a corner and cry because their on the wrong network with the wrong phone.
