Will you purchase the Motorola Droid X

probably not...at least no time soon (by which time there will be something stronger/better/faster). There is nothing that the current Droid cannot do in its current configuration. If there is a large release of software that bogs down the current Droid (doubtful) or is incompatible (doubtful) then I would reconsider. I can't see changing phones until next summer at the earliest.

No!

The Droid was my first smart phone purchase and I bought it on release day. I do not buy Apple products for obvious reasons. I purchased the Droid because I support open source products or projects. I will wait until my contract has expired before I upgrade. The difference with cell phone tech vs. PC tech in the open source world is I can upgrade my hardware at a minimal cost. It seems with subsidies, Apple products might have a chance to dominate in great looking underpowered tech.

I think apple is a bit too plain to be great looking.
1 button and a lame system, I've played with iPhones and they really are too simple.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I find that simplicity is attractive, especially on a phone. If I could have the droid x in the body of the iphone I so would. :icon_ banana:

I would agree, but wallpapers, contrary to the belief of jobs and his followers, are not overrated, they are simple and add just that tiny bit of customization we have all become accustomed to over the years.
I didn't know iPhone didn't have wallpapers until it was announces in iOS4...which is pretty sad.

Honestly, I never thought it was that big of an issue. I have an ipod touch and never really had the desire for a wallpaper. If anything it would have got in the way or made it look cheap. Now that there are folders though, that may be different. Again, its all an opinion.

I voted yes; but I'll wait till my upgrade date, and not a day longer than that. There will always be something better, faster, or whatever out there so waiting much longer than that doesn't make much sense at least not to me.

Simplify, simplify, simplify. I personally think it is a great looking phone - I still won't purchase one because of AT&T.

I run multiple platforms from home - Linux Mint, OS X and Win7. I think all have their strengths, but Mint is the most 'fun' to play with. I look at the Android OS the same way, and at the same time understand that some don't have the same urge to play, tweak, customize...

(hell...my wife still uses a G4 tower we bought in 1999 and an Apple LaserWriter from 1993 - obscenely reliable. Simple/clean/reliable is a strong motivator for some people)
