I believe the 2 posts that didn't show up was actually 1 post and should be post 3721.

Hmmmm, wonder if it damaged the power management unit and that is throwing a panic? Can he get ahold of a known good battery?

Dunno. He's busy right now. We'll get back to him when he has time. I would think in your scenario it wouldn't flash though.

Maybe you should spread the download links out throughout the HOB OP and the FAQ and make it where you have to manually create the HOB directory and copy all the downloaded stuff to it again.
You've made it to easy for some people Sam.

No, I'm just going to ignore people that don't read. This particular individual has not PM'd me back. I'm not surprised.

Not sure, but power circuitry damage shouldn't damage any of the flashable partitions. The OS still theoretically might now boot.

No problem, i'm actually tempted to try it. I'm one of those folks who actually likes SPAM anyways. Second favorite breakfast meat next to bacon, actually.

I can only do SPAM every so often...got my girls eating it. Trying to get my G/F and her son to at least try it..so far, not working.

No matter how idiot proof you make something there is always someone out there that will make a mistake. Those are also the ones that will blame everyone else for their problems.

OK.. Update is applying, time for a question. Just realized I still had the 905 update file on my SD card still. (Don't worry I chose 6247), What would have happened had I chosen the 905 by accident and not realized it until I booted? I am assuming bad bad things...

Could he be missing something your mini FXZ isn't giving him? Maybe give him your Nandroid backup?

- I don't know what I'm talking about, but I used HoB last night. :hail:

Ummm, hmmm. I'm not quite sure that's going to work out for you. OTOH, I and my testers have spent all day working on a linux script that will work in moving someone to 247 from any version. My latest version isn't tested yet and I have no idea if it'll work the way I wrote it. (I added a root option). My script simply flashes system preinstall and boot img and has you reboot into recovery to install the update. It doesn't copy the update for you and it doesn't reboot your phone or do any of the other fun stuff that the HoB does. But i'm not sure if WINE will allow the HoB to work properly or not. It's a risk.
Oh, no, I'm actually doing it the old fashioned way. I'm manually typing all the commands myself and simply doing whatever it says in the "Linux" section of your FAQ, regardless of whether my phone gets bricked or not. xDDD

No. Just no. He's on 905. This isn't a HoB related problem. I'm just trying to help him out as he's desperate.

Alrighty then. Make sure you copy that update to your SDCARD-EXT before doing anything.

Will do. ^^
I've also been practicing this week on that OG Droid I bought, so I've been able to familiarize myself with installing custom recovery menus and different ROM images. It's nice that you can actually flash a different ROM and it will not erase your SD card. Are the newer Android devices basically the same way?
