xDDDDD I think this topic has seen it all. Origins of usernames, discussion about going to bed, the histories of processors, fake ICS builds, REAL ICS builds, Cookie Monster, Homer Simpson drooling, bacon fun facts, discussions about girls with nice racks...

What more could you ask for! :D

I was livid when I saw there was another possible release.. Ready for this crap to end... ready to flash a JB rom but want that safety net.

Lol sadly not. I've lost all faith in amd including in the video card space. We were discussing the demise of ti omap procs in the smartphone space and how Intel is attempting to pick up the slack. That naturally led to amd being mentioned and my commentary on that. Sad to say this article appears to support my position that amd is indeed screwed and stuck in low end device land. I would have liked to see even a glimmer of hope for them at least trying to enter the mobile space... Even as a low end provider. But that doesn't appear to be the case. At least not for the foreseeable future.

I've never had faith in AMD. Even when Intel fumbled during the P4 era. I've never owned an AMD that "worked" right. Always had odd things with the machines. Same with ATI video cards. I stopped buying them in 2003 when I bought a video card specifically for a few games. Every single game required a patch from ATI to work correctly with the game. And the performance was terrible despite the fact that it should have rocked.

When AMD bought ATI, I figured they were meant for each other since I've never had positive experiences with them. Even if they started making a faster chip than Intel at a lower price point, I've been burned so many times that I don't think I'd give them another chance.

I didn't use amd in the late 90s because there wasn't a proper compile option for them and not since the p4 because they haven't been able to compete. But in the t-bird, duron, athlon era they rocked.

Hmm interesting I have 6 computers and a rack server all powered by AMD. 2 Phenom II x6s, Athalon II x4, and Opterons. They have all worked beautifully and I would never change to an Intel. Cost is way lower and performance is perfect. Main machine running Phenom X6 1100T, 16GB DDR3 Corsair XMS3, NVidia GTX 480, liquid cooled, 2 TB Seagate RAID 1, and powered on an ASUS board. I'd put it up against INTELs all day long and yes some of the I7s might outperform a little, but the cost in them compared to mine is WAY higher.

For what I do, your AMD won't cut it. My 3770k may cost a lot more, but, it definitely gives me bang for the buck. I can convert a full blu-ray to Xoom quality in under 7 minutes. Your AMD will take 20+ minimum. Seems like not a big deal, I'm sure, until you realize I have over 6 TB of video to contend with.

New information about the OTA ... anyone hear anything from the great blue yonder?

Really  ... Take a look at screen shot below. Almost all of these are Blu-Rays and this is only one of my folders on my server. Notice the folders in the "Favorites" on the left more than one movies folder and a TV Shows that is all in 1080p as well. I can convert a Blu-Ray to .mkv, and don't tell me .mkv files are lower quality than Xoom, well under 20 mins. I'm not saying AMD is better performance than INTEL so no one come shouting back that I'm wrong that AMD will outperform INTEL. I am just saying that I think people are underestimating AMDs performance.
