Your Droid Physical Keyboard

Hmm, doesn't seem like that big of an issue to me. I got mine at the beginning of December. The keys aren't 100% flat, but the don't look as bubbly as the one in the pics, they just have a slight curvature. I've never had a problem typing on it so I can't complain.

The physical keyboard is literally useless because of the flat keys. All that added weight to the phone is hardly inconsequential. If you're going to include a feature such as a physical keyboard, do it right. It makes it even worse that some of them did get it right while the majority got jipped.

Please share any responses from Verizon/Motorola in this thread.

Mine are kinda flat, but have a feel-able definition. I guess they are in between the two, more on the flat side. I am getting good with speech to text and hardly use either keyboards anymore:)

Is that in the Market?

No - it comes with 2.1

If you have 2.1 - whenever your keyboard comes up for typing - you'll see the microphone icon - press it and just start talking! The words you speak will appear in the text field! It's awesome! It makes the wait for 2.1 all the more sweeter once you finally get it! :) mikey

My keyboard came flat but i have been using it a lot and now it is slightly bubbled. Not as much as this one in the pic, but it is pretty close. I believe the more you use the keyboard the more it becomes raised and bubbles out.

Yeah I saw that for the new Nexus One and thought that was an extremely useful feature. Kinda peeved it just didn't come standard with the original Droid, makes the raised keyboard issue that much more frustrating.

My wife and I both got our droids on the same day. She got a flatty I got the rounded keys. I actually didn't notice this till yesterday. I was going to start a thread about it but just noticed this one. All I know is there is no way in hell I would be able to type on hers. I feel sorry for you flattys.

im pretty sure mine is raised bc before i got my droid i was playing with a display phone and the keyboard on that one was giving me second opinions and then i used the opne i bought and it was a little better.
looks raised to me damnit i hate typing with mine it is totally flat so i use swype its the next best thing

Mine looks almost exactly like this. There is definitely a major difference. I have two friends with droids and both their keyboards are totally flat.

Mine was manufactured in week 46/09. I don't know why there would be a difference. I think someone already mentioned it in this thread but maybe there are two different manufacturers for the keyboard or something.

so i was at easter brunch, my parents and aunt all have droids also, we opened our keyboards and compaired, my aunts is slightly bubbled, not as much as the ones in the pictures, but it makes it much easier to type. so it seems theres 3 types, ones an inbetween.

this is a small possibility but made the keys get bubbled after use. If you are a frequent keyboard user is yours bubbled?

When it was new was it bubbled?

But then again what are the chances all the keys got raised.
