Your first impressions on the Note 4

Next 3D ran just fine on my s4, so I have no doubts that the note will handle it. You lose some abilities with some 3D launchers. Next's 3D mode doesn't have landscape mode. But you can cram a lot onto one screen, overlap widgets, etc.

Their 2D mode in the same launcher is actually very nice as well.

Good to know. No landscape is no big for me because I always disabled rotation in the launcher.

Yeah, the more I mess with the Note 4, the more I like it. It may be my first dive into the Note line/phablet category if the Nexus 6 doesn't win me over.

If you have any questions about the Note 4 to help you decide, feel free to ask. I'll try to be unbiased :)

The only thing I'm not a fan of is the rear facing speaker, although I don't think that's enough to turn me away from it, I watch videos and it's nice to have speakers on the front, or at least at the bottom.

How's the reception been, and is the speaker loud?

I held mine right by my old s4 (gave it to the gf) in a spotty reception area. I had 2 bars of 4g & the s4 had 2 of 3g. I've never gotten 4g there.
Also, battery life has been good? I heard it's pretty stout in that department.
No complaints here. I'm using it a LOT more than I was using the s4, so I have to charge a little more often, but the fast charge keeps me moving pretty good.

Once the new wears off, I expect it to really impress, though I'm getting the spare battery & charger kit if they get them back in stock soon.

I skipped the note 3 because I wasn't ready to commit to the size. Now I'm wondering why I waited so long.

It's not a big deal to me either. Only on occasion do I wish it would switch. Mostly when I'm airway in landscape (in a game or something) & want to leave it & launch another app that benefits from landscape. Still, not a big deal because the Homescreen looks sweet in any orientation.

The other thing I like is that I'd like to keep my next device for a while, my G2 battery is already wearing down I think, and it's been less than a year. I can just buy a new battery with the Note 4.

Reception has been excellent for me. The speaker isn't the greatest quality out there, but it gets quite loud.

Battery life has been excellent for me. I have absolutely no complaints on that front. The fast charging is also great (although I do have concerns about how it will impact the life of the battery...but that's not as big of a concern here since the battery is replaceable).

Like Jonny, I'll also be picking up the spare battery kit from Samsung once it's back in stock (I'll use the 50% coupon Samsung sent me after registering my Note 4). I love having a spare battery on hand for times when I know I'll be away from an outlet for long periods of time. That said, I haven't missed not having that option since I received my Note 4, because the battery life is stellar.

Ever since I did my first reboot. It's been very good so far. Just tested the speaker for the first time with a video. Pretty loud I think and wasn't breaking up. For music headphones is still the way to go

I only had it for a day so I can't give you accurate battery life. So far though it's been good. Seems to be about 10% for about one hour of screen time so far. Like Jonny and BSweetness, I plan on getting a spare battery. Always have with my phones because it's nice light weight insurance when you don't expect to near a charger for a while.
