Your Warranty Replacement just might be a Droid 2 / Incredible

Well, I'm getting a D2 tomorrow. Not sure if it's new or not. I was on my 3rd D1 and just casually mentioned that to sales girl. She tried hard to make mine work (software issues) and even reflashed the phone using that little port under battery cover. Still no go. She was trying to order me a D1 replacement but computer wouldn't let her. Manager came over and after a while they told me I'd be getting a D2. Btw, I had legit issues with all the D1s I've had. I've run stock with a handful of apps so no funny business on my end.

Well my d1 keyboard is broke.... I call got a clnr d1 and the camera was jammed so I supposed to get another clnr d1 Friday.... I'm not hoping for a droid 2 I just want a phone as good as the one I bought....if I get a d2 whatever...if I get a d1 that works new whatever don't matter too me....

^port under battery? do tell?

It's the little connector looking thing that looks as if it might be for an external antenna. Sales girl took my battery cover off and I told her it had not been wet thinking she was checking the little indicator tab. But she told me no, I took it off to hook it up and flash the OS again. I couldn't see exactly how or what she did but she had it hooked up to a computer in a corner that appeared to be for this purpose.

Same here, I actually wanted a D1 as I want vanilla Android but I'll make do with whatever they send me provided it works! I missed several client calls today because my phone would freeze up. I kissed alot of ass today because of this damn phone...lol

All the talk on here about how expecting a new phone is fraudulent is bunk. If you have a flawed phone and the providers claims they do warranty swaps at the store and has stock of the new version of your phone you SHOULD get that as the swap, PERIOD!! It cost Moto NO MORE to produce a Droid2 than it does a Droid1 or they wouldn't have just shut down droid1 production 100%. Also they wouldn't be priced EXACTLY the same if this were not similar in cost to build.

You should really do some research before you make post that are filled with this much incorrect information. No where in your contract does Verizon or Moto promise you a new phone or a new version of your old phone as a warranty replacement. They say they will send you either a new phone or a certified like new replacement, which is what they are doing. You are not entitled to a new D2, get over yourself.

Well at the moment 99 times out of 100 a droid owner whether they have an original, X, 2, incredible, or EVEN eris with ligit hardware warranty issue is NOT GOING ANY SORT of replacement device when they enter a VZW store for a swap, even if there are new devices available at the store. I know it isn't in the contract they do new warranty replacements, but the general story is that they do in store warranty replacements. If you have a flawed droid of any type at the moment many stores can't help you and you will be a day or two without a phone or risk injuring your phone to point of unusability as you wait on fedex. I am just demending BETTER in store warranty stock and service for Droids of all types, but Droid 1 that started it all in particular. If giving out new phones is what it takes to improve that 99 who are outta luck t most getting on the spot replacement so be it. Warranty frauders with working or deliberately broken phones are different.

I worked with a flawed and loose, but working USB jack from day one new, but it finally broke. I shouldn't have to wait for a replacement and then worry it will not work as well as what I have outside the working charge jack. I may just have to keep this droid and soldier a new jack in my own darned self if'n they keep recirculating junk hardware rather than returning to moto for repair or scrap.

Build cost is only one small factor. What about opportunity cost? Why send a customer a new Droid 2 for free when they could eventually charge them $100-200 dollars and get another 2 years on their contract? Or when that Droid 2 could be sold to a new customer?

While I can't completely defend CLNR's, I will agree with the above poster that you have no idea what you're talking about.

This should be put mostly on Moto. More hardware to satisfy both issues or else. Part of the problem also though seems to be VZW is afraid or unable to weed out legitimate warranty flawed hardware and return it to moto. Look at some of the issues on the CLNR hardware. Plenty of that should have went straight back to moto and moto shoulda subtracted a droid2 charge for each from the subsequent shipments to VZW. It's not rocket science its warranty arrangments and service. Problem is that Moto isn't keeping up with demand in general and VZW is trying to hide a serious flaw in their warranty service logistics when it comes to modern smartphones. That's it.

They kept sending him perfectly re-certified D1's instead of a brand new D2!

My 1st re-certified screen felt like it would snap off, my second was perfect. I really doubt you could get 3 and have major issues with all three. Please enlighten us with the specific issues of each...

These are NOT refurbs!! Get that out of your heads people. And they are not even apparently documenting well what the returned phones issues are. Horribly unstable phones with possible memory or other hardware issues are getting reflashed and sent back out hoping people won't notice. Physically defective units apparently are also. Basically you have to get lucky and get one of the VERY FEW perfectly good phones the scoundrels out there hunting a droid2 or whatever else are sending back. In the chaos LOTS of defective phones that should be getting returned to MOTO for repair or scrap are just getting sent back out.

Technically, if these were all legit "hardware" warranty returns they would ALL be going to Moto for repair or scrap. Problem is that VZW thinks many have zero hardware issues and are just reflashing and sending back out. When someone is claiming mostly software issues they should be giving people a hard time to make sure that it isn't JUST software. If someone is actually running 100% bone stock and having software issues, it's probably hardware and a reflash will fix nothing. Once they believe it's not a fraudulent customer or they are claiming physical rather than software flaw, ALL SHOULD GOTO MOTO for repair, PERIOD. Customer available stock SBF reflash regime for home reflash would fix A LOT of this. Make customers reflash to stock or take to store to reflash to stock before allowing a return and recycle.

None of this is happening so a crap load of junk phones are remaining in the CLNR cycle as VZW hopes some will just accept the flawed phones that probably need repaired or scrapped.

Here I am with a droid that has had a loose USB jack from day one on the DAY OF RELEASE that finally gave out and now requires lots of wiggling to get a charge to start and then must not be picked up until charged and I am afraid to take a CLNR as the phone is great otherwise. Accepted to try that anyhow and am just going to keep mine the maximum period of time to make sure the new one is stable and such. Really though I should have been able to walk into a store and swap for a CLNR. I don't mind driving by the store to swap phones on occasion if the CLNR's are flakey until I get a good one, but they can't even keep them in stock there or the warehouse properly and the ones they do have available are all going back and forth rather than to Moto as a true warranty SHOULD!!! New droid2 or X should be standard protocol when you can't keep WORKING CLNR stocked properly at a store PERIOD.

You have no clue what you are talking about. Before you open your mouth you should have an idea of what these CLNR's look like. They have clearly had all the outer casing components replaced including glass and keyboards. You step in and make some half hazard argument about verizon reflashing swaps and sending back out when that is not the case. Unless you work for their receiving department who recertified these phones you should keep your opinions to yourself. Just sayin'

So they make sure they look cosmetically new but leave everything else broken is what you are basically claiming. That really makes me feel wonderful about how VZW is using my near 50% higher monthly fees than I have ever paid for a phone with data.

so it seems that 3 of the apps i was running was Widgets(facebook gmail counter and market) and now that they are shortcuts i dont have the lag now i never had that b4 2.2 i was running the same set up b4 and after 2.2 but with them running i get that lag well i guess i should not say 2.2 but when we got the flash update is when my phone started to lag.

my 4th replacement slider

5th one on the way. I was told on the phone that since I only activated one of my replacements, its only showing in the system that I replaced the phone once lol... I told her "what shoudl I be activating these physically damaged replacements" and she was like no... bring it into the store and have a rep note the account because she didn't believe I could have 3 out of 4 replacements with slider problems. THe one that didn't have the problem had the headphone jack issue, that is the one I activated. Too bad cause the one that just came in had the perfect bubbled keyboard I had on my original.

hey. My phone has the sliding problem (which i never knew was a problem, thought it was normal until the post above me), the 3G doesn't work, and the screen doesn't show up. It lights up but nothing is shown. It vibrates and everything. Going to a VZW store tommorow. Do you think i'll get a D2 or DX?
