Your Warranty Replacement just might be a Droid 2 / Incredible

FINALLY got my replacement D1 CLNJ(Cosmetically Looks New Junk). Looks nice and new. Slider is screwed up though. doesn't slide as nice as my early build droid that is heavily used even and my wifes later build and less used phone is like butter compared to either. Not gonna fault this, even though it basically hoses the "Like New" aspect of CLNR on the fancy stickers they put all over this junk. What a HORRIBLE way to waist my subscription dollars. Fancying these things up to "Like New" is totally pointless if you aren't going to get it right. When I slide it, it feels like total junk compared to either of our original devices. Most likely cause it was disassembled and reassembled poorly.

Is it the manufacturer or some contracted out shop to VZW doing this? It's good enough I guess if I don't have any other issues as the Micro USB port is real firm and it is in as good or better shape than my old faithful. Although a bit too firm on the USB jack at first and seemly pulled out a few chunks of plastic that hold the little contact wires, but that might be from using my cord with the totally hosed jack on the one I am replacing. After a few jacks it seems to seat correctly without too much force. At first it was firm, but seemed to seat wrong until you pushed really hard.

Will report after a week or so of use on stability and such. This silly though as it's a lot of effort.

I am returning my latest CLNJ for a crappy slider. sounds just like yours. was pretty happy with it otherwise. So far since November i am on my 4th droid.
The CS rep told me that they send the phones to motorola for repair, but ship them out from verizon. I asked him what my options are if this next device is faulty and he said i have 24 months for replacements. Then he said my only other option was to sell it and buy a device retail. He mentioned a new program they have where they are selling refurbs with accessories for big savings. They will have 1 yr warranties. Guess too many are trying to beat the system.
Good luck

I called the customer service line today after having having both mine and my fiances droids swapped for CLNR devices for keyboard slider issues on 3 occasions, and numerous software lagging issues since the froyo update. Just a simple explanation of our problems and we promptly received an offer to switch to either the Droid 2 or Incredible. Since we have both had our droids replaced for slider issues with the keyboard we opted for the Incredible. Should be here by next Tuesday.

Well at least they offered the deal. I am really starting to get tired of people on here who are trying to force Verizon into giving them an upgrade for free. I have no problem with it when it is being offered by Verizon...but some of the stuff that I have read in this thread just irritates me greatly.

hey. My phone has the sliding problem (which i never knew was a problem, thought it was normal until the post above me), the 3G doesn't work, and the screen doesn't show up. It lights up but nothing is shown. It vibrates and everything. Going to a VZW store tommorow. Do you think i'll get a D2 or DX?
Absolutely not. You will get a D1

Is their anyway i can get a different phone? because i'm not so fond of the D1 i like the other Droids better. I dont know why :P .

I couldn't wait for the froyo ota so I downloaded the update- beginning of August. It is mid Sept and my phone is possessed. As I sit here--not touching it--- it is doing things on it's own. I'm taking it to verizon as soon as they open, but does anyone know if they will notice that I downloaded froyo myself? Can that void the warranty? I'm not rooted. I honestly don't know if I can get back to factory with the phone acting like this. Also could this be a virus? The phone has become self aware!

When did froyo officially come out? sounds like you're rooted to me..

5th one on the way. I was told on the phone that since I only activated one of my replacements, its only showing in the system that I replaced the phone once lol... I told her "what shoudl I be activating these physically damaged replacements" and she was like no... bring it into the store and have a rep note the account because she didn't believe I could have 3 out of 4 replacements with slider problems. THe one that didn't have the problem had the headphone jack issue, that is the one I activated. Too bad cause the one that just came in had the perfect bubbled keyboard I had on my original.

Wow, almost exact same situation as me. Received three straight replacements with loose/crooked sliders, sent them back without activating because I wasn't going to let go of my original phone until I got an equal replacement. Except on my third phone (which was by the far the worst), I took it into the store instead of calling again. Got the same response from the rep you did about not seeing the other replacements because they weren't activated, but she told me to call customer service because they have the shipment logs, and she noted on my account how bad the replacement was. I thought I was just getting the run around, but when I called shortly after, the rep said I could switch out my droid with any other CNLR of my choice, and I took an Incredible (DX too big, D2 too similar to D1 for my liking). I'm not sure what was noted on my account, but whatever it was, it got the phone reps attention!

NO! You just don't get it, we are entitled to a new phone for free cause...well, cause I mean I want a new phone and they should give me a new phone!!!!

Replacements

I had the Droid 1 and after 5 replacements, I called Verizon and told them I want a different phone. You have to be stern and tell them what you want, not them tell you they are giving another replacement. They gave me the Eris and since I lost out on money from the difference between phones they also gave me a case, car charger, and screen protectors. They tried to give me another Droid 1 but I told them I had too many replaced. It used to be after 3 they give a new phone but have changed that over the years.

You accepted an Eris as a replacement for a Droid!? While you're at it, can I trade you this $20 bill for a $50 bill?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I would seriously take a barely functioning D1 over an Eris everyday. Keep fighting the good fight.
