2 1/2 weeks after Bionic Build 5.9.901 ------- How's it working for you????

For some reason after going to 901 data for me isnt stabalizing. Its not turning blue, or voice signal actually. Anyone know of the reason or a fix for this? the data WORKS and voice but the signal on top is always white.

Found out from VZW rep who had to refer to a manual that the blue represents when it confirms connection to Google services. Being white doesn't mean your data isn't working right.

The answer is 42.
Oh, wait, you mean to tell me you need to know the question now?
Well, I can't answer that.

I was one of the first to get .901 via OTA update, I had only owned my phone for a week (.893 was released the morning I bought it).

I'm still happy with it. My phone works great. The only thing that could make me happier with the Bionic than I am now is a solid, stable release of Android 4.0.3 or later in a month or two.

Working terrible in upstate NY

I am shocked to say this because 901 has been working so great in Tampa Bay area of Florida. Zero problems.

I returned to the Ithaca NY area where I work a few weeks a month. 5.7.893 worked very well here. I got here Sunday evening and have had long term data outages. I am hoping it is network programs with Verizon, but I do not see anything when I google it.

What's the only variable? The network right? So I would guess that Ithaca is having some issues. One thing I have noticed over the last week or so, is that the "nationwide" outages have been kept to a minimum lately, and it's mostly been "regional" problems.

Here is the thing. I am on 901. There are people here running 5.5.893 and getting 3 g fine.

Really, the only variable is 901! I loved 901, till I got here. Seriously considering restoring to 5.5.893.

I have to have email.

I am on. 901 and since I switched data has been great not a single drop but battery life seems to be little worse. Also certain apps aren't available to me in the app market. That is very irritating.

I read somewhere it took awhile for the market to update

Install and run the "Battery Calibration" app from the market. It seemed to fix my battery issues. You need to be rooted to use it though so I don't know if it will work or not in your case.

Thank you very much... Fixed my issue, now I am getting great battery life... I appreciate your help...

I tried with with a computer but im a new to this need help if any one can thanks

You can get it from DROID Bionic Receiving Mysterious 5.9.901 Update? – Droid Life on the mirror site. Be sure you have the Motorola drivers installed from USB and PC Charging Drivers - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA on your PC.

After that, this is what I did...

1. Go to Menu>Setting>Applications>Development and check "USB Debugging."
2. Plug phone into computer.
3. Press "Mass USB Storage" from the list of choices. Two drives will show up. One is MOT (Internal Storage) and the other is Removable Drive (SD-EXT).
4. Put the downloaded file on the root (ie main area) of SD-EXT (not internal storage). No need to change the name or extract it.
5. Eject both MOT and Removable Drive and disconnect the phone from your computer.
6. Power phone down
7. Reboot into stock recovery (adb reboot recovery) by holding Power and Volume Up/Down at the same time.
8. When the robot appears, press both volume keys in at the same time.
9. Select “apply update from sdcard” using the volume keys, then Power to initiate it.
10. Using the Volume keys, choose the file that you downloaded above, press Power and let it load.
11. When the install is done, press Power. It'll reboot, but it'll be longer than normal (a few minutes)

Now, a bit about OTA updates. First they are RANDOM; so random; so random that if you bought 2 Bionics at the same time, one could get the update long before the other. Second is that they can arrive in the background. What you'd see is a question on if you want to install it (rather than download and install). Third is when you check for an update, you are pinging the carrier, who checks to see if you're scheduled to receive it. If you are, then you'll get notice that an update is available to download. This means that if you're scheduled to get the update on, say, January 25 at 3:47am, you're phone will say that it's "up to date" despite the fact that others on this forum had been getting it since the 16th.

Still crashes when texting with the predictive text on and i mean texting fast (portrait mode). I do love the switch over from 4g to 3g almost seamless. Messed around with the gps last night looking for a gas station told me it was 6 miles away when it there was one 50 feet down the street i hadn't seen while pulled over. Other than that its okay. Camera speed to me is the same. Battery usage is mediocre. Only getting about 2 bars lte about 8-12mbps down and 2-5mbps up.
